I was watching an episode of Buffy this morning and there was a scene where spike and buffy were at a carnival and at one point DV was in the backround. I'm not sure what the episode is called but it was there. I also don't know if it was the one from GAm, MM, or OG. I'm guessing MM cause that's the closest to L.A. but one never knows. I just thought that was worth saying. Also, as the series has ended it was not a new episode. i think it was from 01.
Yeah well it was probably MM because they always get credit for all the coasters, for example they probably think they had the first suspended coaster when really SFGAm had it we all know what that ride was B:TR, another thing they were always taking credit for DV when i might be mistaken did SFGAm have it first, not sure on that one though.
ive been to sfga a total of 10 times since aug. of 99 my fav is raging bull & superman ultimate flight heck i love all of the.
We all got them basically in the same year, 2001. There were only a few months of difference with Magic Mountain's opening first and ours opening last. Stunt Fall (another super boomerang) opened in 2002.Information from RCDB.com
Yeah, well MM always thinks they have the first everything!!!More Examples:(Viper) The worlds tallest vertical loop. But wasn't Shockwave's loop somewhere around the same height? What about GASM?(Physclone) The worlds first copy of the Coney-Island Cyclone. Correct me if I am wrong, but there were a few coasters before that one that were look-alikes before this one.All the records they really hold are:The worlds first 4th Demension Coaster (X)The world's first looping coaster (Revolution)The world's first coaster to go 100 MPH (S:TE)MM is not the only park to do this. This is the simplest way to get people to the park to make $$. So if they say world's first or record breaking, almost 8 out of 10 times it is untrue.
Well, somehow it has to be true... Otherwise it's false advertising. Though there are ways to get around that. They can be tricky with how they word certain things, so it leads you to believe another thing... It's actually good marketing, that's a marketers goal. For example, Big Chief Karts and Coasters leads you to believe that Zeus is the fastest wooden coaster in the mid-west. Well, we all know that American Eagle is faster than Zeus. Their idea of "mid-west" though, may be different to our idea of "mid-west". In other words, to them Gurnee wouldn't be considered mid-west, though to most of us it probably is. Maybe they consider Gurnee as the central area of the US, who knows. And since there isn't any set rules that say Gurnee is the mid-west, it's not false advertising.Maybe that's a bit confusing... Oh well. Sorry about the marketing lesson lol.

If SFMM does claim to have the first cy-clone (something nobody but enthusiasts would care about anyways,) then Six Flags doesn't even know it's own history. Astroworld has had a cy-clone since the 70s...And if they want to boast about being the first with a 100 MPH coaster, well, SFGAm was the first with a 65 MPH coaster. Big whoop. And, Revolution, in fact, was not the first modern looping coaster as claimed. It was the first modern vertical looping coaster. Knotts Berry Farm, Magic Harbor, Opryland, and Old Chicago all had corkscrews a full year earlier. Anyways, the same year Revolution opened, Cedar Point opened Corkscrew, which had both a vertical loop and two corkscrews...First 4th dimension, they did (and always will) have that. They have the only 4th dimension, too. But, one could dispute that, as in reality, any spinning coaster has a 4th dimension. X is the only one with controled spinning, though.
They also have the first coaster to reach 400 foot mark. It may not be a full circuit but its still over 400 feet. Also you dont even go the full 415.Revolution gets the title because it opened 5-8-1976 and Corkscrew opened 5-15-1976. Also I thought it was the first coaster to have a sucessful circular loop. On sixflags.com it says "it was the first loop ever built into a roller coaster." Thats wrong. If Im not mistaken Loop-the-Loop at Coney Island was the first coaster to have a loop.
Ok, that first 400 foot coaster thing is crap, too. In 1996, High Roller opened, perched over 1000 feet above the Strip in Vegas. I think that is over 400, isn't it? It's the same comparison, height, not drop. Superman, I think, was the first to have a 300 foot drop, though.
It's called marketing....if any of you knew anything you would know what SFMM does. Their advertising keeps the turnstyles turning and it works for them, theres nothing you can do about it by sitting here pointing out obvious things about it.
The turnstyles obviously don't turn as much as they should. This is a year-round park that pulls in attendance numbers closely with parks like CP, PKI, and SFGAm. The 3 latter mentioned parks are seasonal. In my opinion, they aren't doing something right.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
