The restraints popped up as the ride started but they stopped it and brought it back, I got off luckily but my friend stayed on. It of course happened again toward the drop.
Its one of those things that now makes me scared to even think of such a remote possibility.
My question is, god forbid those restraints did unlock at the top of the lift on the entire train...would be people be able to survive? I know you can hold down the restraint on the drop, but wouldnt the force be to much for some people on some of the turns.
I know its a terrible thought, but just as a horror movie---project what could happen. Clearly in real life i am guessing there is a fail safe to protect against this??
I do remember early this year when one row was shut off, and coincidentally it was someone on here who sat in the back row and the restraints popped up a little bit or whatever happened.
I think unless someone is holding open the restraint locker, it would just lock back in.
I was watching this thing on You Tube where they were taking people out of the coaster at the top of the lift hill where it stopped, and they did it wrong, so the ride started to go, and the people's restraints were up, but they were allowed to lock them back in.
But if for some reason the restraints opened, I am sure everyone would die. Raging Bull has high speeds, but drops, and lots of Gs. There wouldn't be anything to hold onto in those trains, so you would be screwed. The first drop, I am sure everyone would fall out. If some people didn't, it would be on the second hill, or those bunny hills. During the positive Gs, I don't know if you would hold in either. As I stated before, the hyper coasters trains are made so you are loose, unlike arrow trains, and the only thing keeping you in is the little lap bar. On demon, I am sure you would be fine without a restraint until the corkscrews if you held yourself down. but most people can't reach the floor on the bull, and there is nowhere to hold yourself down.
You might be able to hold on for dear life to the lap bar, and wrap your legs around that bar, but that might not work.
Haha, were you watching Final Destination 3?
Edit: Oh, and one time my seatbelt actually came off on Whizzer, but I was able to hold myself in with my friend until I put it back on. Also, there aren't many negative Gs, mostly lateral, so it wasn't too hard.
This is a Final Destination 3 situation and the last thing you should have done in your dream was get off, because now your going to die a horrible death in the order you got off the ride.
Just Playin, But ya that is a scary though, the only way you might possibly survive is to wrap your legs around the arm of the rest, and grab the bottom's of the seat to atleast hold yourself down when going over the hills. Going down the hills will push you into your seat.
Well i do not think its all possible to survive, if you hold on tight enough, at the right times, you might be able to
^^^When Whizzer opened, it didn't have seatbelts. It was meant to be ridden that way. I'm sure the seatbelts were probably added because of liability reasons, the same way they were added to American Eagle, Viper, and other rides.
Assuming the restraints just failed and they wouldn't click down, you do not think holding them down tight would work at all? Too much force? What a terrible sight that would be if everyone fell on the drop.
And i didn't watch Final Destination haha but that scene is very nervewrecking. I just dont trust rides at all, but i love them
and with that said which ride do you think would be LEAST possible to survive if the restraints were to fail and you ONLY had the option to hold them down your self?
I still Bull would be tough, V2 would be especially terrible if both the seatbelt and restraint were lose. They are heavy restraints it seems and the force would be awful once you were facing up the spiral tower and started to fall back down.
Supermans restraints would also be damn near impossible to hold down i am guessing.
On Raging Bull you have a chance of holding on the lap bar. Since force pushing forward is what opens them, as long as you have them closed and hold on you should be fine. And besides the first drop in the back, you could easily hold on the rest of the ride. The ride with the least chance of survival would have to be Superman...well duh
V2 is kind of different. Unless you are in the front row you can put your feet in front of you and push with your feet when you are going up the back tower. And on the first tower since its just zeroG instead of NegativeG, holding one wouldn't be that hard.
I'm guessing that the way these trains work, is that the harnesses or lapbars lock into a groove. Maybe there are two grooves on each side in which they lock. A reason why a harness or lapbar can get out of the groove is because it was never really in the groove, or maybe a groove broke. Again, I'm guessing there has to be a number of grooves. So, if you have 5 grooves, and maybe 2 sides of grooves that's 10 grooves that would have come undone.
What I'm thinking is that the only thing the harnesses or lapbars can do without opening them manually is to lock further down. Now, if those grooves are all broke (Assuming there are grooves), than you are doomed, but how can that happen.
For V2, and a ride like Batman, I think there isn't much doom because you have an extra seatbelt even if it opens up. For the wooden rides, I think the seatbelts have to do with people getting a little too carried away about the airtime, and trying to stand up to get more. Maybe, that happened after the Holiday World accident, or the Superman: The Ride of Steel at SFNE accident. I don't know the years they installed them to tell you.
For Superman, I think that is the worst one for getting really hurt, or losing your life. In the station, the seats raise in the flying position. In the back of each car, there is a hole in which a horizontal metal piece goes into the hole. I think each car has two. If those were to somehow snap on both sides, the car would be hanging down, and the car would be very near the ground. For the groove thing I was talking about before, you can see it on Superman when the harnesses go down. They go in the holes. For the other rides, you don't really see that. If the harnesses suddenly released on the lifthill for Superman, you might be hurt badly. However, there is grass instead of concrete in some areas.

HAHA! Deja Vu!
Or the Fruit Salad ride. Now that would be frightening.
poor wolfie rip ( hopewe get a neww bm wingrider for next year!11!
Deja Vu was the scariest with the bars being so far from my chest. They really gave you too much room. I thought I was going to fall out when I went on the the second tower. Giant Drop is scary as hell too. Last time (November 2nd), I was like "We are so high up, we are nicely secured in right?" to my brother. The view is great but once you reach the top the waiting is the worst. GD is scary but at least it is really short. You can kind of hold on is you are quick enough.
I was on the drop tower at Beech Bend and its one that goes up really slow and doesnt stop at the top...it also launches you down. So we are going up and since there is a little ceiling you cant see where you are on the tower and there was no shadow. I was like "hey, you know that a girl lost her legs on a ride like this because the cable snapped" talking to the person next to me. They we like, "Oh well the brakes better catch up".
I was all "Oh yeah, there magNETTTIICCC"!!! I didn't know that it doesn't stop at the top so it took me by surprise
OMG like I would totally not wanna seee that happen unless it was with test dummies. What prevented them from fixing the V2 holding break before the season ended? Man, July-October.
i never get scared on superman actually i always think about it after but when im on something i never like think about something like that happening i just enjoy the ride
^I am just a mess on the lift. My friends are like, woah it's so far down, and then they would be like, are you ready? And I would just sit there, or in that case, lay there, staring at the ground counting down to when the train gets to the top.
I haven't (until now) even remotely thought about the rides being unsafe. If I did think about dying on Superman or Raging Bull I would never go to the park and the rides I love so much. It is kind of a typical thing why would you go on a coaster/flat ride if you thought of ways you could get hurt/die. You guys need to stop this. Freakin' creeping me out. I wanna enjoy the off-season and think about how awesome 2009 will be. I don't want to go on Superman in the spring thinking it will let me go and fall on the lift hill. Seriously.
The following description is not for people with a weak mind or stomach Heres a scenario.....you are on Superman and the leg restraints open up. You will stay in your seat just fine, but your legs would be dangling. You go into the pretzel loop and you cannot pull your legs back. You reach the bottom of the pretzel loop and the massive amount of G Force causes your legs to bend back and completely snap at the knee...or they snap on the thighs. Then you are in massive pain while your shattered legs are just swinging and are getting pulled by the amount of force. When you go into the barrel roll the skin on your legs get twisted around leaving your legs swinging like to piece of rope. You come to a stop on the brake run and you can see your feet almost hit your face. Now you are in pain...LOTS of pain and there is a break down. You cannot move and all you can do is lay there with the excruciating pain. You can see the bone stick out of you leg and the blood is dripping. You scream until you go into shock and pass out.
....I had a dream like this once and I woke up with both of my legs having a cramp. So the pain in real life I was feeling in my dream.
