Cypress Gardens closing Nov 17th.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

The park will shut down and all amusement rides and animals will be removed.

The plan is to expand the waterpark and re-open in March.

Well, that's it for me going there.

Sad I never got the credits, but oh well. I went to the place when it was just a garden and shows and it bored me to tears. I mean, looking at flowers is great and all, but paying 20 plus bucks to do it was just dumb. Oh well, wonder how long time the water park closes after re-open.

I'm willing to bet that some Parks will make bids for some of the rides. PARC Management, Adrenaline Family Entertainment, Herschend, Parques Reunidoes, Hershey, And tons of Family Parks could all buy Something.

My opinion on this park is that the admission was too high at around $40. Yes, you got a second day for free more recently, but no one needed to go to this park 2 days in a row because it wasn't crowded at least for me. Why is admission too high? In my opinion, the roller coasters aren't that big, and huge like a Six Flags park that should charge in my opinion over $45.

In my opinion, I think the teens / kids only really care about the rides, and waterpark when it was open. I never been in that waterpark, but I think it's not that big. I don't really know, but I'm guessing. The seniors in that area probably really care about the gardens (flowers), the concerts, and the ski show. This park supposedly had animals. I had no idea they had them.

To me, it's kind of unfair for the ride people to pay $40 when they don't care about the gardens, and shows. Again, I think the seniors are interested in that stuff. I'm guessing in this town that there are a lot of seniors because when I was at that park, there were a lot of seniors. I think the better thing would have been to separate the rides / waterpark from the shows / gardens. Well, now they are just dumping the rides. However in my opinion, the Sky Trek Tower type of ride should be with the gardens / shows.

For advertising, I think they should have advertised more around Disney World. Even though Starliner in my opinion is a great ride, I didn't feel that ride would save the park. I think something more like Mr. Freeze, or V2 would have, but that costs a lot more money.

^But its the same way for parks like Legoland, Universal, Disney, Zoos, Ect. You aren't just paying for big ride but an experience.

Heck, it cost me about $25 to get on the Kombo kiddy coaster at the Indianapolis Zoo. I just think that they could have marketed the park a little better or offer something different.

Big question is how do you market a garden with crappy rides and decent wooden coaster? I went as a child and was beyond board there, as was most of my family. When you have 8 major theme parks within 2 hours and quite a few water parks as well, not sure how you market yourself. There are also better nature places around the area as well.
