Magic Mountain is not for sale And cleans up with new codes of conduct

Six Flags Magic Mountain is cleaning up, shaping up and it's not for sale.
It's no secret locals recently viewed the theme park as more of a menace than a destination for family fun. "My son tells me that I can't go there because that's where all the gangs hang out," said Susan Reynolds, a senior partner at Newmarket careers in Santa Clarita.
But Reynolds was one in a room full of local business executives who were surprised when park president Jay Thomas presented Magic Mountain's new direction at the Valley Industrial Association's luncheon Tuesday.
Now, one would be hard-pressed to find a cursing smoker waiting in line for Goliath, let alone a gang-banging trouble-maker.
With new leadership came a new code of conduct for Six Flags, Thomas said. The park is enforcing zero tolerance for smoking, profanity, bathing suits (not effective for Hurricane Harbor) and line-cutting. Park officials expelled 4,500 people from the park in 2007, Thomas said.
Another aspect of Thomas' new business philosophy is treating different areas of the park as separate business units-making for a total of 300 individual business venues.
At each of those venues, employees are "going to do something to make you say, ‘Wow, this is Six Flags Magic Mountain? Way to go,'" he said.
Employees are placed in positions that fit their personalities. A shy teenager will no longer work an interactive games booth.
Alongside increased employee morale, comes a cleaner and more aesthetically appealing park, Thomas said.
Believe it or not, Thomas recently challenged employees with the "insurmountable task" of cleaning up the park's fallen leaves.
Leaves encourage trash, according to Thomas, and since the "no leaves" policy went into effect, Thomas is seeing more park visitors pick up their own trash.
Thomas and park officials are seeing these changes have a very direct and visible impact.
"We have worked diligently to make sure we are improving the park experience," Thomas said. "Guest compliments for the 2008 year to date have already exceeded 2005, 2006, and 2007's compliments combined."
Season pass upgrades are up by 74 percent.
"We are getting ourselves back in to the community," he said.

Its nice that they finally got 2 trains operating on everything consistently and painted a lot of the rides, but theres still very little for families to do.
If they dont get a chance to sell it because of its bad area and all the other local theme parks, they should relocate some of the coasters to other parks. Maybe sell the coasters to some different chains. I would really like to see scream come to our park. I also think all thos little parks like America and Kentucky Kingdom and New orleans should be sold or relocate coasters.
Its sad to see as many of those coasters are great and unique and no one would buy them. Impossible to move coaster would be...
*S:TE- It would be a pain in the ass to move and no one would want to spend the money to maintain it *Revolution- It is made on a hillside, so unless a park excavated (which would be a lot of money) it would be impossible to re build *Tatsu- Same reason as above, and it would probably cost more to modify and move then it would be to just buy a new custom one *Ninja- Same *Gold Rusher- Same
Coasters that would have no point to move to other Six Flags parks. *Viper- Old, big, and would be as popular *DejaVu- Why would they move it if they got rid of 2 others *Revolution- Huge wooden coaster...nuff said *X2- The park put way too much into the ride already, also the ride is HUGE
So that really only leaves the B&Ms and kid coasters. *Batman *Riddlers Revenge *Scream *Junior Coasters
They could easily sell all of their B&Ms besides Tatsu. But then again, who wants a Medusa mirror. I heard they suck, and pull no g-force. Everyone has a Batman, but they have been putting some Batmans in other parks, but it is one of the originals, and is getting old.
Goliath would be possible since it's not a custom, (or is Titan slightly different?), but that is probably a good roller coaster for the park. Most of their coasters have a lot of work put in to them, or are originals, or just old, so I don't think their roller coasters are going anywhere. If anything, Scream or Riddler's Revenge. But RR is a big coaster their I hear.
I think they should sell it. It would save their ass. But they are probably thinking in the future. Like, if they end up getting out of debt, they would be able to make the park even better and use it as a profit park. I might be wrong though.
I think SFA should go, as well as SFDK, and SFKK. The reason behind SFDK though is that it is another competition park in that area.
Wow, Six Flags is in deep shit right now after thinking about all of the choices they can make.
Medusa is a great ride that has great speed, forces, layout, ect. However, I heard that the taller and faster clone (scream) isn't as compact but is pretty much similar.
Our park needs a cool floorless and/or B&M Dive. Ihave mentioned this in other threads. The emyt space with a pond right by the Grand Avenur Entrance behind Superman and The Dark Knight. There can be on cool coaster. But it might seem weird since there are 3 coaster entranes right by eachother. But that extra space is right there.
Well, if you look at it in one respect, it could be a good thing that Magic Mountain wasn't sold. For those people on this site who are always complaining about not getting a new ride every year, they could all go to Magic Mountain as Six Flags is "always adding rides at one of the two big parks."

That will never happen utilizing that land. Neighbors live just on the other side of that pond.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Well, in 100 years, if the park still exxcists.....Great America need to expand somehow. So it was either this^^^^^ or they build a bunch of stuff underground. Just a though. Or they are going to build under the highway to another section of the park. I dont know.
As for Magic Mountain. Good your keeping the park.
