Arrow Corkscrews

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I have always wondered this about the corkscrews on Arrow's looping roller coasters. You know how, especially on demon, they drop you into a bank without turning, and then you get thrown to the side? Is that necessary? Couldn't the roller coasters have a drop without a bank, and then go into the corkscrew?

If you don't know what I am talking about, check out this video:

I'm sure they could, but it would make for a really rough transition into the corkscrew, as a corkscrew is more a function of banking that anything, basically a corkscrew is 360 degrees worth of banking. if it was a straight drop it'd have to bottom out, go straight for at least a few feet than start to bank in preparation for the corkscrew
