Just in case anyone was thinking about going to the park, the park has closed all day due to weather. Supposed to be open tomorrow, then weekends for Fright Fest.

^I hope he found out! I would be so angry if I had to drive five hours to find out it is closed.

I'm officially sick of all the s*it!

That is ridiculous to close on a Saturday in September! They do not have the right to do that. That is really sad that a major theme park company has to close because of some weather. Think of all the people that would have been there and now cant go.

Well its Six Flags loss I guess.

I was planning to go, but I live 10 minutes away. I figured I could get on TDK and other rides that are indoor/covered. Oh well. Been a bad year, weather wise.

So let me understand something here.

O'hare airport flooded, Edens Expressway Flooded, Baseball games cancelled due to flooding.

And your pissed off because Great America is closed?

That makes about as much sense as.....

Well nothing because that doesnt make an sense.

Tomorrow the park will probably be closed too because the remnaints from Hurricane Ike will be dumping up to 5 to 7 inches of rain over the area. Oh and lets not forget the hundreds of thousands of people in the Fox River/Des Plaines River Area that could see serious flood damage nah, we dont care about them

Really the weather has been excellent this year. For the exception of May. Six Flags has become SO CHEAP that they are worried about saving money instead of the reputation...and Six Flags doesn't realize that, THAT is what is going to get people threw the gates.

Not to mention...you DONT do this on the last normal operating Saturday of the year.

That's only 1 area....that's no reason to close. Do you really think people in Wisconsin and everywhere else will take that as an excuse for why the park is closed.

They don't have the right to? Why do they NOT have the right to close when they want.

They have the RIGHT under the Federal Government to CHANGE HOURS AND DAYS OPEN WITHOUT NOTICE!

If anyone does not have the right, its us saying they dont, demanding they go further into debt because WE want them open.....

tp41190,

Do you realize how freaken self-centered and stupid you sound right now after these last two posts?
We are talking about 3 to 9 inches or rain when this is all said and done. This isnt some late summer thunderstorm that lasts 30 minutes and poof gone.

This is the remains of a serious HURRICANE! Have you looked at a newspaper or a TV news show in the last 24 hours?

Just to give you an idea of just how much rain we've gotten. The city of Chicago had to open the locks at Navy Pier to allow for storm drainage into Lake Michigan that is because the underground tunnel network of about 100 miles or so are.... FLOODED!

I dont say this to much to people but you sir are a moron

Do you realize its been thunderstorming ALL DAY nonstop, meaning TDK, Chubasco, and Rosies teacups are pretty much the only rides in the park that would be open (Dodge closes when the floor floods). SFGAm cant justify charging people parking/admission for that product. Plus September already has extremely low attendance there would be literally no one there today .

Oh yeah. Well I just looked at the Doppler and Wisconsin "little to no rain" and Chicago looks like its getting drowned by the rain.

I didn't realize it was this bad.

I'm sorry for living 1.5 hours north and not seeing any rain

Can anybody please post ASAP if they find out the park will be closed Sunday the 14th? We were planning on using our final "bring a friend for free passes in the month of September" coupons that came with our Season passes booklet. Turns out, It is only good this weekend since I just learned they are closed the rest of the month! I'm really ticked about that. We were planning on letting our kids take some friends with us this weekend and use those free passes, but now it looks like it might be closed all weekend due to weather, and we won't be able to use these passes at all now. I don't know why they need a half a month to decorate for Halloween. They could of at least be open next weekend too.

Yeah, how dare a large amusement park shut down due to severe weather in hopes of bettering our safety.

The sheer audacity of them!

I would give the park literally a 1-5% chance of being open tomorrow 9/14.

I wouldnt even bother going to the park unless you live within 15 mins of the place and probably call and confirm they are open, even though that doesn't mean anything if they tell you they are.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

As of now, on the Six Flags website says Great America will open tomorrow. The weather forecast says showers in the morning, becoming widely scattered by afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

^Its just rain. Its not like the actual hurricane will be hitting us. Its just whats left over...no winds, just normal rain showers.

^ Wind-wise every thing should be fine tomorrow except Drop and maybe Ragin' Cajun (but Cajun won't be open much anyway due to the rain).
