Maybe a little malfunction. I doubt they will close it. If anything, they would most def. spend the money to fix it. It was one of the parks most popular rides, and the park can't sacrifice pissing off the public anymore. Plus, all of our B&Ms are the best roller coasters in the park. B&M does a great job with their roller coasters.
I believe the lift motor is having problems. Hopefully they can fix it as those take a LONG time to make and are very expensive. Last time Batmans lift motor blew they put Iron Wolfs on Batman since its a more popular ride. Im sure since its Batman they're going to do absolutely everything possible If they cant fix it I dont know what they're going to do, it took 6 months to make and ship a new one for X but I highly doubt theyd accept having an extended downtime on BTR.
Yankee Harbor must be pretty lame now: V2 broked, Batman broked. Hopefully this doesnt turn into 2006 where a whole bunch of stuff broke near the end of the season before FF.

It HAs nothing to do with the trains, the lift motor blew out on Friday. They had to evacuate the lift then use the back up diesel motor to get the train off the lift. LIke Papas said, its could take a long time to fix.
Going either this weekend or next with a flash pass. Hopefully, it will be up and running. BTR is quite popular even though it is not the best in the park and is not worth waiting more than 30 minutes for such a short ride.
I remember right at the end of the year like within the past 2-4 years it went out, and went down for the remainder of the season (broke like first weekend of fright fest), I remember standing in the station as the last few trains were dispatched, and the entire station was vibrating from the motor, the lift was real slow and jerky, and finally it just stopped, and that was the end of it with a puff of smoke. Was entertaining though I never did get on it. Maintenance must have skimped, with proper maintenance a motor can run for a really long time (decades in many cases). If it is just the motor though, they can have it rewound/rebuilt, still an expensive and time consuming process, though cheaper than a whole new motor in most cases.

This is not an issue with the maintenance of the motors, it is an issue with the actual motor itself, the number of windings on the motor is critical, each new motor is different and is raising many different problems. This is not the first time B:TR's motor has been replaced this year and there is a long lead time on new motors.
If you sit up there and amp out each winding under no load, full load and startup and and make sure it's within the acceptable range for the type of motor, you can see issues coming from a mile away, and sometimes prevent problems from occurring in the first place, that along with keeping the motor bearings greased (making sure the shaft is turned once a month during periods of inactivity), a Motor can last indefinitely.

Well, unless there was a manufacturing defect in the motor, or it's the wrong type, maybe found in a pinch last time it went out... but that is in fact what I'm getting at.

Im not knowlegable at all on motor's so I have no info at all if this is just a regular issue that happens, or if it is something else.
But you would think a company like SF that has many BTR coasters operating would have numerous spare parts, including a motor that run's the ride itself on hand so they can replace one that's broen in a timely manner and not have to wait months for a new one. Im sure the motor's for the ride have a normal life span and have to be replaced after a cetaim amount of time/hours etc and the company would have ones ready to take the place of motors that break down.
I was sitting here and just had a thought, so brace yourselves,
for those who may know, does Batman have an inverter duty motor? or a standard polyphase induction motor?
Cause the lift does slow down in between cycles, so that shows there is a Variable Frequency Drive, which can physically work with a standard AC induction motor, however between the harmonics(square vs sine waves) caused by the VFD and incident and reflection pulses, the insulation life on the windings is hugely shortened with the possible doubled voltage that the VFD is capable of putting out with those pulses. Also for standard motors, they are designed to run at one speed, so the cooling is set up for that speed, at lower speed the fan that is attached to the shaft cant move enough air to properly cool the motor, where the inverter duty motor is designed with special cooling to run at lower speeds without overheating.
So I wonder if SFGAm is just using standard induction motors due to the way high cost of Inverter Duty Motor. Figure it's cheaper to put out for a new motor every 3-5 years rather than the proper motor that may last 10-20 (assuming it's severe duty, that'd be a roughly average lifespan).
Wheels in my head are just turning at will now. Plus I can put my schooling to at least some use no matter how pointless it is

Well if they cant fix the motor or find one theres most likely no way they can get a new one made by the end of the season combined with the fact that theyd be buying with money they dont have (add this to the endless maintenence projects they have over the offseason)... Or remember when the center hub SFOTs Troika was damaged when it was being transported? What Six Flags could do is idle SFOTs Batman and transport the lift motor to Gurnee. REVENGE FOR TRIPLE PLAY.

...it could happen
I agree we lost the best flat for one season, BATMAN SHALL FALL!!!
