Holiday World 2009

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Looks like a fun ride, but I can tell now, it's going to be a disaster, plain and simple. Intamin (strike 1), elevator lift (Strike 2 since intamin is involved), flume with OTSR's (Strike 3). I have no doubt that the ride experience will be good, but I don't think it's going to be open a whole lot for the first year or 2.

Alright, I don't like it. Really OTSR Flumes? C'mon, what about the bar that normally goes over your lap, like on SWF? Jurassic Park? Wouldn't this hurt capacity? Instead of checking like one bar, checking 10 OTSR's? But, then again, I might just have to ride it.
poor wolfie rip :(( hopewe get a neww bm wingrider for next year!11!

I was just reading about this on thrillnetwork. I think it will be a awesome and fun ride and just because it is Intamin does not mean that it is not going to work!

OTSR is just overkill, just look at our flumes (even though they are smaller) they have nothing!

I hope it has more supports than in the videos...otherwise it may become a Topple Tower

^O da, thanks! Ya it is kinda stupid to put those on the ride. Now they have to waste time checking every single restraint. Do they have to put those kind of restraints on the ride because of how tall it is?

it has OTSR's cause the last 2 splash rides Intamin has made have both tossed riders to their death, along with the Aquatrax they made in Korea. That's 3 out of their last 3 water rides that have killed people. HW has already lost a rider, no chances are going to be taken (at least til either on that, or some other flume with OTSR's a boat rolls and 10 people drown to death, which would be entertaining in it's own right.

I think that the dual-loading elevator is a sweet idea. When I first saw the supports curved i'm like "Is that how it really is?" But now I see it's where the boats pass each other. Hopefully more supports will be involved. And in case anyone didn't know, it's going to be the largest water ride in the world. SPLASH!

Alright, I don't like it. Really OTSR Flumes? C'mon

Intamin really should make steep water rides with t-bars....wait

At least they're fitting the water rides with OTSRs now and not those straps Perilous Plunge used to have.

That's such a unique idea to have that elevator lift, but i'm going to agree with the downtime assumption. It's such a cool looking tower though!!! I don't know what to think of it yet. The way that the two lifts pass each other in the middle is a neat idea, and the idea of leaving the water for the lift will probably be quite scary. Not crazy about over the shoulder restraints, but it's completely understandable why they are there. Lastly, i like that you can board from both the waterpark AND the amusement park, that's a great idea for a water ride and I don't recall ever seeing that (although i'm sure an option like that exists somewhere). Overall, it should be an interesting year for Holiday World, nice to see that they are pushing the envelope a little, and having been to the actual park, they could use an up to date water ride NOT a part of the waterpark.

SFKK's deluge has a dual entrance, and like SFKK, I think there are just 2 queue entrances, that merge into the main queue for the ride, then a single exit into the waterpark most likely (though HW may do dual exit) but it's better to have clothed shoe wearing people in the waterpark that is is to have bathing suit clad people appearing on the midways.

^or possibly make the exit some sort of connection path between amusement and water park. I'm sure they would have announced if they were doing that, but the one way of getting into the waterpark gets quite crowded and is kind of far from the back area (which contains all the new rides).

Voyage will still be the tallest ride in the park at 163ft.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

^I normally don't bother correcting people on here, but you're always right and I've been waiting to do this for years! According to Holiday World's website, this new ride's tower height is listed as 165ft, making it two feet taller than The Voyage.

Oops. I stand corrected. It will be 165ft but I guess that includes the HW sign and the flag pole.

Physically though, for rider's sake, Voyage will still be the tallest.
