Skyscraper gone from ValleyFair!

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

When and why did this happen? I thought it was a fixed park model ride. This really sucks, I loved this ride!

Yep, went to Cedar Point

Was a fixed site ride, doesn't mean it cant be moved, anything can be moved.

^ Anything?

OK how about Batman? Bull?
I just could not picture a theme park relocating a large coaster. they would have to drill out the footers, take apart the track, etc.

Is it possible?
poor wolfie rip :(( hopewe get a neww bm wingrider for next year!11!

I'm sure it's possible, but I dont think they would take the time, money, and effort to move one.

Coasters come apart the same way they go together, supports are bolted to the footers, take off the nuts, and it comes right off, everything is bolted together

They have relocated wooden coasters before. I am sure if they can relocate a wooden coaster, they can relocate a steel coaster of any size.

Steel coasters move more than woodies. Heck, Rolling Thunder and Tidal Wave are all operating elsewhere right now, and Z-Force was running at Magic Mountain until last season.

Just take a look at Geauga Lake to see how many fixed large scale coasters got relocated.

X-Flight
Steel Venom
Thunderhawk
Dominator
Headspin
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I think DejaVu2001 understands that coasters can be re-located now :D

That ride looks pretty bad---. What's it like? I saw it on a Travel Channel show last week, and want to ride it. Is there any of that kind close to the GAm area?

[Edit] Just updated my profile and noticed I am officialy a year old on this awesome forum! :D

Wisconsin Dells has a few SkyScrapers. Timber Falls I know for sure has one, and you get a discount with the coaster wristband, it's not cheap, but if you've never done one it's worth it.

there is also a traveling one in and around chicago. Turbo Force, a clone of it by Zamperla, it's inferior but still a lot of fun.

And it may be gone now but Walter Murphy's 2xTreme from Great Britain was doing the rounds of this area on the way up to MN. It's a 170 foot tall single armed one, far far more intense than SkyScraper, almost unpleasantly so.

Isn't the Timber Falls one the only one in the dells. I was in the dells on Mon. and today and that was the only one I saw. I was going to ride the roller coaster at Timber Falls but it was closed today!

havent been to the dells since 04 (or whatever year Hades opened), could swear there was one at the skycoaster/SCAD place somewhere in that area, then a chop job(older one with one side of the ride choppedoff) somewhere near Riverview. Could all be gone now I suppose

There is a place called Extreme World down the street from Mt. Olympus that has a SCAD Tower, Skycoaster, and Slingshot. I dont think they have a Skyscraper, though thats just another reason to go to Timber Falls.

Yeah and they have this other sweet ride called Terminal Velocity that's a freefall into a net about 100+ fett below the rider.

Probably got rid of it, Skyscrapers are sorta falling out of favor. SCAD is totally worth it though. sounds like what that Terminal Velocity is, not sure how much it costs there, but I've done one at IAAPA and whatever they charge, it's worth every cent :)
