The Biggest Fright Fest Ever?

There are only two Haunted Houses. The Curse of Sleep Hallow 3d Haunted House will be located by Trailblazer and I assume will be the less scarier of the two since it doesn't have a age warning.Most of the stuff aimed for people over the age of 12 is in Necropolis including the second Haunted House the "Mauseleum of Terror". The Curse of Sleepy Hallow 3d Haunted House is new though so I don't think anybody could say which is scarier...but I would assume Mauseleum of Terror since it has the age recomendation.

I read in the shockave post that one year they had Brutal Planet, (haunted House) where MOT is right now, and the next they turned all of necropolis into Brutal Planet. This gave me alot of questions. First one is what is Brutal Planet? I know its a haunted house, but whats it's theme, whats in it, and how does it compare to MOT? Also, if it's so popular with other six flags parks, why did ours get rid of it? Also, how was necropolis all decked out as Brutal Planet?

brutal planet was like an alien thing......i dont remember the exact story to it, but it was like some huge invasion of six flags i guess and if the "zombies" touched you then you'd become a zombie too. it was really weird.

Brutal Planet sucked as a replacement for Nercropolis and it sucked even more as a haunted house. They haven't had a Brutal Planet theme for a while I think the last time was when it was the replacement for Necropolis in 2001. I hope its gone for good unless, its brought back in a new area for free.

Brutal Plant was about a disease that was spreading around and killing everyone, that isnt here this year. I was in sleepy hallow the other day, and Its not finished BUT it does look pretty awesome! you get 3-d glasses for it, and EVERYTHING is 3-d. I am pretty positive its all 5 dollars again this year. your Season pass doesn't help for anything except admission.Just a lil rambling: I was watching a show on different theme parks the other night, and for as much as the other places pay for there halloween show, it looks pretty cheesy. This year (the 13th year) or fright fest, has a lot of new surprises. Everyday I find something else out and I honestly can't wait to see the final setup. They are bringing back alot of old Characters. This will definatly be the best year of fright fest.

I didn't move to Illinois 'till 2000, so I went to the 2000 Fright Fest and didn't even go in Necropolis or Brutal Planet or whatever they had that year, but I remember there were way more characters, and in the bridges there was knives hanging and stuff. Now they just have strings (at least in '01-'02). I think this year is going to be better, but it seems since Premier bought Six Flags, Fright Fest has gotten weak.FrightFestChica, what are some of the surprises?

I dont want to say too much, you gotta leave surprises for when you go. But i will say again, they are bringing back old characters from the past years. They are using WAY more realistic props, and appliances (makeup) they are using stuff that they weren't allowed to use the past years. so this year should be more frightening. So be happy.. JPM tried hard to get "Banned" stuff back and it was a success =)But as for the decorations in the park.. I dont know what is going on with that. Not all of it is set up. and for some reason alot of people think this last weekend was fright fest just cause it was october. but please go, and have fun! its gonna be awesome!

What is Necropolis beacause I've never been to Fright Fest, and I'm planning on going Sunday. By the way how are the crowds on Sundays because I really want to have fun. Thanks.

Its a really well themed area across from Batman, and it has 50 people in it, and a really good haunted house.

Well Necropolis is "The Haunted City Of The Dead" its one of the more popular areas during fright fest. It is located right across from the Batman. And One of the reasons we couldnt use the stuff we can now, was because of 9-11, but there were other reason too.The reason I know about this is because I work for JPM Productions. (The people who run Fright Fest)Oh yeah, the crowds on sunday - It depends. This weekend, im sure they will be busy since Monday, there is no school. Answer me this.Why would 9-11 cause certain things during Fright Fest to be banned?Since when does a terrorist portray anything that relates to Halloween? I dont remember terrorists dressing up as Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, or Freddy Krueger.If you want to asscociate terrorism and Halloween with death, I guess you might as well eliminate the Halloween as we know it.

Chillin16jg, its 7:18 your not leaving there's no point to. Also, I fell the same way about the 9/11 thing, but Six Flags didn't want to put any goar in the 2001 Fright Fest because it was right after 9/11. I remember being really mad, because there was barelly any props, and there were no scareacters. Before I even got in necropolis (which sucked that year), the only people I saw in the park was mayor slayor, and a handyman dude in county fair.

Re: Fright Fest and 9/11Keep in mind that ever since 9/11, the entire theme park industry has taken a hit. In the immediate days after (during pre-production for most all haunted events), many companies were tyring to reasses what was appropriate and what wasn't. What may not be offensive to you could be very offensive to others. Halloween is a negative promotion, one that celebrates the macabre and death. I think during the 2001 season there was concern from park owners that guests wouldn't be coming to parks at all, let alone a "dark" promotion.The thing about Fright Fest at SFGAm specifically is that the event has always swung back and forth between gorey/scarey and family friendly. Over the years, some seasons have been scarier than others, and there are a lot of factors that influence this. Some people complain "it's not scarey enough... more blood!" while others complain "it's too scarey... they scared my (insert child's age here) year-old!" All of that is taken into consideration along with what can be effectively produced to be entertaining at all times of day to the largest number of guests. Keep in mind my old favorite, the Ded Wood train show: it had a "scare" in it, but wasn't a "scarey" show. It was just entertaining enough to keep people's attention and get them involved.Looks like this year the pendulum has swung a little again towards the scarey/gorey side, which is a good thing. Considering new makeup effects, some new props, etc. they've got a lot to show off!JCPS -- Brutal Planet was a concept purchased from a haunted house developer, also deployed in other theme parks. It never really worked, and I too am glad to see it gone too -- but that's a whole other long story...

Well, I guess the 9/11 thing was answered already. Its just with some people they may have gotten offended by it, and we dont want to lose guest to it. but its all over. Anyway, Fright Fest is looking good. I don't know how many of you read the newspaper about the 2 fires that happened this weekend. This are CRAZY! but we are still Scaring strong! I hope you all enjoy your time. The info about the fires though. One happened at the Manny B. show. A prop started to spark and it was put out by the drummer immediatly, Everything on that stage was fire proof. The other fire was in the wardrobe trailer. It was a very sad sight and devistating to us all, but there was nothing that could have been done. It was out of anyones hands. I give this years FF a 6 on a scale of one to ten with one being the worst.in my opinion: I really didn't feel terrified. I went yesterday and I felt as if the scarechaters (sp?) walking around put in very little effort to scare. I reallyt wanted to go into the MoT, but my friends didn't want to pay the money and wait 2 3/4 hours to walk through it. I'm not blaming all the characters, becuase some did really good like Capt. Nasty who was eating his own barf. So I guess my point is: FF wasn't all that everyone said it was hyped up to be. I took a lot of pictures of the decorations becuase I thoght that was good, but they need more work on making people feel scared. I understand there are childern and what not, but there are ways to get around that type of situation.

Everyone has their own opinion on what is scary. Maybe you just don't get scared easy. I see alot of Grown people get scared to death. and i see some little kids not get scared at all. it all really depends. and It depends what day you go. Characters can only have energy for so long. But they give their all no matter what. You still have to give them credit.
