Is V2 safe?

Talk about anything that has to do with Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor here.

I rode the V2 not to long ago and i realized that the chest restriant was shaking like crazy when i was going up the straight spike. I love the ride though and ill keep riding it but i would like to feel a little safer than just having one small seat belt holding the chest restraint down. Like a locking chest restriant like deja vu. Have any of you felt this way?

The restraint's do lock, and you wouldn't have been dispatched if your restraint wasn't locked. The seatbelt is there as a "just incase". V2 is safe and wouldn't be operating if it wasn't.

I noticed that the ride sways when the train reaches the top of the spikes. It is not even windy out at all and it sways. I mean it sways ALOT. Does Wiked Twister sway alot too? Wondering if it is normal for it to sway.

Y DO I HAEV 2 USE PROPER GRMMAR AND SPALNG????!??!! OMG WTFAnd yes it's normal for it to sway. WT sways also, apparently last year, WT swayed too much, and now it has additional supports. However, if anything is wrong with V2, it will likely show up on SUE first, and by now it would have shown up on the first impulse, Linear Gale, as it has a triangle, not box track, so it's not as strong (although there is no twist, so there is no shearing.) If you want to worry about a ride being unsafe, try Viper. There are many accounts of the lap bar popping up a notch or two.

I actually like the restraints on V2. Shockwave (when it was there) and Iron Wolf's restraints routinely beat me up.

Thats happened to me before on viper, you go over a hill and all the sudden it pops up a click. It scared the crap out of me.
you can't believe it - you didn't mean it
but they saw you do it and they know your name

Once on Raptor during the first drop, my OTSR came up one click... sometimes it happens to me on Batman, Iron Wolf, and Raging Bull... not often though.

On the Viper the restrestraint poped up all the way up on me on the first drop and it also poped up a little on Raging Bull on the lift hill I thought I was going to die. I was 10 times more scared than on my first time on it

I don't know about the viper thing, I've never had that happen. But on Raging Bull.. I had it open a little right before the first drop.. and I think it does that when it's too tight on your legs. I snapped mine down too far I think. I got scared and slammed my hands on it to make sure it was closed but it was.. it just popped up one click.. I have a hard time believing it came open ALL the way on Viper either, and if it did, I would hope that you told the operators about it so they could fix it. Maybe a bolt or something wasn't locked all the way or the bar was not locked in all the way.

That may be true. I have seen them checking seats too. Viper's seat design is older than the new ones. The way that the lap bars were built are more likely to stick than rides like RB or something that automatically locks. Viper's does too but they can stick. I've never seen someone's come open all the way though or heard of that and if it did.. Wow, I'm hoping you told them.

I dont think v2 is unsafe i was just wondering about it. But i would like to comment about the viper and the raging bull lap restraint experiance you guys are speaking of. I do belive that those lap restraints can not come upespecially the raging bull the whole train has a locking system that i belive is pressed in by a hydraulic piston or some sort. Anyway you hear it release when you return back to the station then the lap restaints come back up. All rides ive been on at sfgam ive seen have a locking system on the trains for the seats and on raging bull if one seat dont work they pull that train off.

Ive had my lapbar pop up before a few clicks on Viper more then once. Usually this happens in the first or second car, but thats usually where I ride.As far as Raging Bull lap bars go, I have a hard time believing that they popped up a notch. But whatever........

When it pops up a click on a rollercoaster, most of the time it doesn't mean the restariants aren't working. It means that when you or the opperator pushed your restraint down, it was in between locks, and poped when pressure was applied to it. (couche:airtime:couche)
