So basically, this kid breaks all the rules, goes into a announced RESTRICTED Area, and the family feels they should be OWED something? What is this world coming to.

Attorney Lamar Flatt thinks warning signs and fences placed near the ride weren't enough to prevent this tragic death, citing the death of a maintenance worker who was killed by the same ride in 2002.

What is the world coming to? Does this mean I can go stand in the middle of a freeway, get hit by a semi and then file a claim saying there were wasn't enough there to protect me?

This ticks me off to the extreme! If 6 foot tall fences and warning signs that say DANGER: RESTRICTED AREA DO NOT ENTER aren't enough to prevent a death, I don't know what is. Perhaps he's in the mood for 20 foot tall concrete walls (until someone climbs over them too and gets injured or killed I guess).

And I don't think comparing this to the maintenance worker who was killed is the same thing. That was a case of an employee who had access to the area in question, but somewhere along the line, improper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures were not followed. This 17 year-old had no permission or authority to even be in there. It's the same thing with the media comparing this death to S:TOP at KK...they are two totally different situations. One was truly tragic and one was done out of pure stupidity.

This is why I hate lawyers, they are the ones that make America so full of pussies that are sue happy. They want a piece of anything and will sue for anything, you'd probably be able to sue if you fell at SFGAm for the surface being uneven. People also need to get off their lazy asses and stop looking for easy money, if you did something stupid and knew it was wrong and at fault, there is no one to blame but yourself.

We should put together a civil suit and sue the family for not aborting their child, therefore allowing him to grow up, get killed by this ride, and cause it to be shutdown for a week (maybe longer) and not let intelligent Americans enjoy this classic coaster. This might be a little too harsh and uncalled for, but so is their lawsuit against the park. I truly felt sorry for the family until I read/watched this story.

There are some people in this world that just need to drop dead, at least 2 of them are mentioned in the article.

If I were SF I'd sue the family for lost revenue, repair costs for the ride if any, the cleanup needed and bad publicity. Just like in Europe where people just happen to have common sense.

As in the Words of Bill Engvall:

"I just hate stupid people. In fact they should have to wear signs that say I'M STUPID. That way you wouldn't rely of them for anything. That why you see warning signs on products because of stupid people, It's Not for us, it's for stupid people."

If this Dub### M*&%^#$*%@$r is the reason why Six Flags will declare Bankruptcy (Look up Screamscape for more info on this), Something will happen.

You know.. this is completely pathetic. I'm really sorry that six flags needs to clean this up and take such a hit for this kid.

This was apparently ruled an accident. An accident? "Oops, I accidentally ran in front of this roller coaster and its about to hit me.' I mean c'mon! It's a high speed thrill ride! It's not a giant gummy worm!

It makes it seem like I can go to Six Flags and sue them if it starts to rain. This world is completely turning.

I can't imagine how many peopel will grow furious if this take a large impact on the parks. People complain becuase they're not getting they're 50 million ride they want. How are we supposed to get one with morons running around in a RESTRICTED ZONE. Hmmm. Sounds like a place that's restricted. I think we all were taught in grammar school that that's a big NO-NO. Some people just do not understand.

What will happen from this? Is Six Flags going to be bankrupt? Or is this one of those lawsuits with a defined winner? I don't know. I've hear of a robber that was robbing a kitchen and he fell through the skylgiht, onto a knife, giving him injuries. What happened? He sued the house owners and WON.

Maybe the font was unreadable.. or too small... Maybe the fences were too easy to climb, or maybe the fences were green. I don't want to sit here and see one of my favorite places fall apart because of the stupidity of some people. I feel harsh for seeing all of this, but this is not what Six Flags deserves. And I am on their side for thi, Six Flags'.

In a way, i wish the family could see these forms so they can see how stupid they are.

I also wish the new site listed above had a "leave comment" section, so that news station could see how outraged we are that this family would even TRY and turn this around to being six flags fault!

Holy cow! How could this kid be any dumber? I bet he is the one in class that is always disuptive. The kid did a dumb thing and is a waste of sperm anyway. Good riddance! I sure do hope his parents don't hatch another one! I really hope SFGRAM isn't affected by this dumb moronic incident. It would be a crying shame if Six Flags has to declare Bankruptcy. As for the money hungry grubbing lawyer, get a life. The lawyer should really be asshamed of himslef to take advantage of a situation such as this. He rates right up there with the stupid kid. As Forest says, "Stupid is as stupid does".

Stupidity must run in the family, seeing that the family is planning a lawsuit. It was the kid's fault, not Six Flags! They need to get their heads out of their asses and open their eyes! As it's been said, people will stop at nothing to get their money.

on another msg board someone made a really good point. If the family absolutely must sue someone, should sue the church/church group, after all it was their responsibility to supervise the kid. Of course Six Flags has deeper pockets than a church, or so they think.

in my opinion, if anybody were to sue, it would be the passengers on the train filing a lawsuit against the kids that jumped the fence. Any one of those passengers could have been seriously injured.

Also, the parents were at the park along with the church group. Why were they not supervising where the kid was? I know he was 17 and all, but there still has to be some sort of responsibility put on them right?

If the kid was stupid enough to hop the fence to get a hat, you'd think the parents would know that he would need close supervision.
