For being 20 Acres bigger than SFGAm's water park it sure doesn't boast a whole lot more than we already have to offer. They have a couple of speed slides, but there are no mat racers. Other than those differences the parks have almost the same slides, except I would assume their wave pool would be better than our's.
But no wave pool beats Mt. Olympus' wave pool.

That place looks awesome, and Im sure it isnt popular yet because it hasnt opened... But Im sure when it opens it will be advertised at cubs/sox games and be on the local Chicago News.
The only reason it may not be as popular as it could be is because of Hurrican Harbor. For the price of one Six Flags ticket, you have to variety of an amazing amusement park with great coasters, and a very good waterpark for free (with the ticket/pass).
It's in Joliet! That's strictly a locals place. There's nothing else in Joliet except a prison. Or Joliet isn't anything else except a prison. Take your pick. If anything, it means SFGA/Hurricane Harbor will have less NASCAR types. (What a loss!) I sure will miss those GIT R DONE stickers on every other car.
Joliet has more than a race track and a prison. They have Casinos and a damned fine Ghetto to boot, for when you want a taste of that Madison and Cicero feel without having to drive to the city.

^Living in Indiana, I have to go through a freakin death trap that is south chicago everytime I want to go to SFGAM. The only way to avoid it is to go around, but that takes forever.
But I dont see the big deal of a waterpark opening. Honestly, I dont see why the GP jumps all over these waterparks like its the best thing in the world. Id take one ride on Raging Bull over a whole day at hurricane harbor...
Ok im sorry, but i really hope they plan on putting in tree's, or some sort of tall fence and more scenery, that water park looks really out of place. Maybe im just used to Hurricane Harbor being all tropical with tree's and well, hills of grass so that you can't see the interstate or house's or anything when your on the ground. They really need to make it feel more like a get away when your inside the park, rather then noticing your in a water park in the middle of an open field with woods and business's and houses all around.
How have I not heard about this until now?! It opens in 3 days! Sheesh.. I want to go so bad. Kinda sucks it's an hour away, but oh well. It looks like a lot of fun, they even have a tornado slide.
If I'm not mistaken, in the construction images that show "Cyclone", or the tornado slide, I kind of see what looks like maybe one of those things that brings all the rafts up to the top? I don't know what it's called lol. But if that's what it is, WHY don't they have that for our Tornado? Those rafts are huge and difficult to carry.
Weird, a bit down on that same page it shows a picture of a tornado slide and next to it is txt that says it is named CYCLONE. Under that, there is a picture of a bowl slide, which says it is called Boomerang. The images in the slideshow say the opposite. I'm just a tad confused, but I'm assuming that Cyclone is the tornado.
The last park that opened near there was a multi million dollar flop. Unless they fill the pools with Old Style beer and give away free "skeeter" spray, this one will be a (belly) flop too.
Now combine the per capita income of that demographic versus Lake County and surrounding areas......They'll be auctioning off old pieces of that place in a few years and reminiscing about the "good old days" at (insert Old Chicago, et al here.)
Hurricane Harbor is a waterpark. That is a water puddle!
Yorkville? Even worse still. Where next Berwyn? The entire populace of Will county earns as much cumulative per capita annual income as the town of Barrington (In Lake County.) And since amusement parks are definitely all about disposable income, what will they buy? Fifty cent Milwaukee's Best beer? Jeff Foxworthy T-shirts? Forget it.
I am starting to get tired of your stereotypical responses when it comes to certain subjects.
Do you think you are someone special? Are you perfect? Stop generalizing people based on where they live and also in another topic, you rag on people that visit the amusement park section of SFGAm.
Get off your high horse.
I am sure with just a picture of yourself I could pick you apart.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.
Thank you Chitown, couldn't have said it better. I was waiting to see if anyone else was going to say something, because I couldn't put my thoughts into words when I read his posts.
I think this water park is going to do good. I can't wait to go there, although I do wish it was closer.

Park looks good! I'll have to try not to compare it to Aquatica lol
