Yesterday my Mom took me and Adrianna, the 9-year-old we nanny, to the park. Mom wasn't feeling the best, but she had promised us and it was the only free ticket I had left that she would be able to use to take Ade and I. (Because they only have another ticket for Sep. and for the first three days of school - they should have thought of that, honestly, now most school kids can't go.) So we weren't able to get to the park until 2:30 or so. We got value parking, saw it was a wee bit crowded, got Ade's ticket and headed on in.
Adrianna isn't all that brave, I can say that because she's practically my sister, so I knew I probably wouldn't get on much coasters - but I wasn't as sad to pass up my favorite rides because my older brother and I are going tomorrow (Sunday).
First off was HFM, walk-on. I hadn't been on it for quite some time so it was much fun. Then it was time for Ade's favorite, Whizzer. We waited about 10 minutes for the middle row, much fun, indeed. In line we were behind a Mom and her small baby who smiled at me the whole time, I just love kids :-)
Now I had told Ade that if she braved her first upside down ride, that ride being The Orbit, I would buy her a Lil Webkinz. So she did and was extremel nervous; I told her she didn't have to do it, but she said she wanted the Webkin. Oh, the things kids will do for toys. LOL. Well luckily Ade loved it and said it was her new favorite! Alright!!
We were pretty dizzy from Orbit, so I used a free drink coupon I got from being stuck on Iron Wolf at opening day and got a Fanta and Ade bought a snowcone. After awhile we headed towards County Fair in hopes of finding that people were singing karaoke on the Market Stage; but seeing as I haven't seen anyone singing karaoke for quite some time now, I'm assuming they stopped it. Which is disappointing, as Ade and I can sing and we really wanted to. Oh well.
I ran to AE's line to ask what the estimate length of the line was, and I was told 40 minutes, so I decided to wait until Sunday so Mom and Ade wouldn't get too bored. I considered taking Ade on Revy (she's tall enough now!) but decided it would be too intense. So we rode middle row on Spacely's and waited 5 minutes or so for it.
Ade wanted to try Ragin' Cajun for the first time, but as we were in line they closed it because a few drops of rain were coming down. Ade wanted to do ERC then so we waited one cycle while my Mom waited under the roof leading from YH to MG....well as we were getting on it turned from a sprinkle to a downpour!!! Ade didn't want to get wet and said she wanted to get off. I told her well, you either wait for me at the exit or ride with me and either way you'll get soaked...she chose the latter. Now I loved it in the rain! It didn't hurt and it was a fun experience.
We waited under the roof with my Mom for 10 minutes or so until the rain basically stopped. People were lining up for Ragin' Cajun so we did to; but they told us it would be much longer after we waited for 20 minutes so Ade and I decided to take both our first rides on DARK KNIGHT!
Here came a dilemma...my Mom waited with us for what we thought was most of the line (I'm stupid, I know, okay?? LOL) but as it turns out...it was much longer and I was worried my Mom would wonder where we were, and if we got lost somehow...so I asked an employee if she would let me break the rules just one time for the sake of my Mom. She understood and let me go. Well I couldn't find my Mom anywhere and I was starting to freak out and no employee could really help me...well finally we found her and all was well, but it was a scare as well as a waste of time...but I was just happy I found her!
So we got back to where we were and soon we were into the movie theater. Oh my goodness the movie was so good and scary, it really scared Ade's pants off and she was like, hiding in me. That was when I got worried that she wouldn't like the ride...but as it ended up, she did!! She just said it was a little surprising...which is true. As for me, I LOVED it. I didn't look at any pictures so it was a complete surprise. The seats were comfy, the special effects great and the drops had good airtime.
So now we headed back to RC...it must have just opened because not many people were in line. We waited about 15-20 minutes and had fun, Ade thought it was awesome. Yay! Except in the picture she looked terrified...hmm. Well, she cheered after that drop, so I guess it was a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing.
After that we headed back to Southwest Territory for a couple more rides. I checked out the line for Viper and saw it was short, from my sight anyway, so I went for that while Mom and Ade took a break. The line was very short, I sat in 1:3 and waited about 10 minutes, and of course had a great time on it.
The last ride of the day was Ricochet. For some reason, Ade wasn't sure about it but I convinced her it was fun and so she went and ended up loving it. Yay!
Adrianna bought a Webkinz (she's obsessed, I tell you) and we got out of the park, ate Burger King and went home. Overall it was a great day and I'm glad we went. I'm proud of Ade for advancing to 4 new rides, two of which are roller coasters and one of which is her first upside down, a big change from last year.
