Is the stereotypical Asian guy pissing anyone else off?
I for one am very glad that I live outside of Six Flags market zones and don't have to watch the commercial I saw probably 10 times last weekend while at home. Way more annoying than Mr. Six ever was in my book.
Top 5 wood-5-Goliath 4-Ravine Flyer II 3-Phoenix 2-Voyage 1-El Toro Top 5 Steel- 5-Velocicoaster 4- Maverick 3- Fury 325 2-Steel Vengeance 1-X2 Coaster Count: 444
I didn't really care much about it at first but now after standing in line for Dark Knight for about an hour and seeing these adsEVERY 10 MINUTES, I can't stand them.
Loved the Mr. Six ads, hate the "More Flags, More Fun" ads.
Agree 100%. The More Flags, More Fun is annoying. Like mentioned above, at first, not too bad. Try waiting an hour in TDK line, seeing the commercial with the goof shaking his butt about 10 times. Seriously its on like every 10 minutes.
Yep, you really get a nice dose of the ads in the TDK like i did on wenesday when it went down twice for car removal. Some people got fed up and left the line because they got tired of waiting and the repeating ads made it worse...
I agree that it is a awful/irritating commercial!!! Its is bad enough you have to put up with it at the park, but living in a prime advertising market, I also get stuck seeing it often at home. This is a awful campaign, almost as bad as Mr Six was. These new commercials almost make you not want to go to the park!!!
I find the ads a little funny actually. They do show them often at the park, but I haven't waited in a line longer than 30 min yet, so they haven't gotten too annoying.
I dislike them as well!!!!!! I have many asian friends at school who aren't very thrilled about it either, it's borderline offensive to some. For example, when i was in line for Dark Knight, everyone in line would turn and look at the guy behind me in line (he was chinese) when that commercial came on.
I wish they would just get the hint that people don't go to the park because of catch phrases, they go to the park for the rides. The quicker they cut these stupid gimmicks and start showing the rides (similar to that cool one last year where the rides came out from the ground would do fine as well), then the ads will start being more successful.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
I don't care for it. I think it's just dumb. I just don't like the basic concept of the commercial. There should be more about the park in there, just like what they did last year. Actually, I think they could have used last year's commercials and just added the dark knight in there and it would have been great.
It's just an asian dude talking with an asian accent, how is that racist? If a white guy talks like a white dude is that racist? Maybe that is the way he talks normally? The way how he pronounces it is what gets it in your head, that's why the forceful MORE flags MORE fun scheme works.
What's really funny, is that you think I'm from the GP (General Public). When indeed, I most likely know far more about the coaster, as I've rode it multiple times.
I think Mr. Six should have stayed. They could have used that character made it the official Icon, and they could get out of debt...easily. But they blew it, and I dont think there will be any way to make another character.
While i agree its a lousy ad, I dont find anything racist about it at all!!!! They could have anyone of any racial group doing the commercial, and it would still be awful!!! And Mr Six was no better and those commercials and song were just as ittitating!!
"Im sure the overhead shots of the park with some lame voice behind it telling me about some Coca-Cola ad will be MUCH more appealing to the public."
No, the above is just as bad as the new ad campaign, and the old mr six campaign.
If they are going to have TV's in the line, the tv should be showing content that ads to the rides theme, and not be pr adverstising at all. I would much perfer no tv's in line and end all the in park advertising that detracts from the minor theming we have at the park!!!
