number 1 I think lockers are $9 # 2 You have to bring your own I think, towels you buy at the shop but shampoo I have no idea #3 best water ride is Wahoo racers which you lie on your stomach and race people in my opinion i like it, the others I haven't been on as much but Bahama Mama and Big Tubba are fun too. Paradise Plunge and Riptide the two skinny slides next to the yellow and teal ones called Hammerhead and Barracuda are fun too.....I like them all but Wahoo is my recommendation. #4 food eh we didn't buy food so I have no idea
Hey! The locker fees are something like $5.00-$8.00 bucks in HH (there are different sized lockers for HH so, the biggest one could be $9.00). That allows you to have all day access with that locker. Although, I caution you that HH closes before the park so you have to take everything out when HH closes. The tube rentals are also something like $5.00 for single, $7.00-$8.00 for double? (my tubes can be off, personally, I have never rented a tube) They have the tubes that you need before every slide. The only thing is that they sometimes have a limited amount there so you may have to wait depending how crowded it is. Also you are not able to 'sit' in the lazy river all but one time if you don't have a 'blue tube'. (I do not know if this is still going to be policy)
You do bring your own necessities such as, towels and shampoo. (I really don't know what else you would need to bring)
For me, Don't miss out the Wahoo Racers. They are really fun racing slides. Just to the back of those is where I believe the best tube slides in the park are. (depends on what you are looking for) I know when I went these were my favorite ones though.
For food, it’s expensive. Sometimes good quality, sometimes mediocre. I haven't ever ate a 'bad' meal there. Although when ever I eat anything there I usually get Chicken Strips Meal with a drink. (that comes out to be about $10.00) If you don't want to spend that much, just pack your lunches! Have a picnic by your car; a lot of folks do that.
Lockers $5-$8!? Last year I believe the small lockers were $9 with the family lockers at $15. Maybe $2 less, but I know they raised them from the previous year. Towels, bring your own; soap/shampoo, they have an all purpose cleanser they offer in the showers. Food is the same as in SFGAm main park. You should be able to get all the slides done especially on Sunday, not many people probably going for HH and weather doesn't seem too welcoming either.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
With gas at $4.00-$4.80 per gallon going to Hurricane Harbor is like going to Key West for under a couple hundred bucks! The food is "themey" but edible. Rental tubes are optional. They have free tubes you can use. Lockers aren't really a necessity. I spend the whole summer there and I have never had anything stolen by leaving my stuff near our chairs. Leave the laptops, ipods and stuff at home. They have music and there's plenty to see without all the electronic gadgets. Bring a couple of towels and a change of clothes. (You are not allowed to wear swim suits in the main park nor are you allowed to wear street shorts while in the water at Hurricane Harbor.) Supposedly those are the rules. I have seen people swimming in street clothes and I have seen people wearing swim trunks in the park, so it's enforced at will pretty much. If you're worried about wallets, etc. I put my Drivers License and money and season passes in a waterproof necklace container (available at the park.) If you have to have a cell phone and camera, etc. Then a locker is probably a worthwhile investment. Get there early, preferably at the opening, scout out a good seat. If you like to tan, the area North of and facing towards the Giant Skull gets you direct sun facing South from 11:00-3:00 but it's also the most crowded area. Most of the other seating areas are East West oriented. If you're a smoker that area also puts you close to the smoking section should you need to go for a puff. The bar and restrooms are near there also. If you don't want too much sun they have sections that are covered by screens, but they never seem to get those screens up by opening week. As for soap, the water there is chlorinated to death, so after a couple of dunks you'll be as clean as a surgical instrument! Have a fun, healthy, happy and safe Memorial Day weekend and remember the reason we can have fun on this weekend is because of the sacrifices made by our fellow countrymen to preserve our freedom.
was just wondering what are the prices for the lockers /tubes? $5 ones are in the back. As for tube rental (blue tubes) don't bother. every slide has tubes (Yellow Tubes). In the start of the season there is never a wait for them.
if we need to bring our own shampoo and towels? Yes and yes. bring a brush and suntan lotion too! They sell all this stuff there of course if you forget something.
what are the best water rides there? they are all great fun!
and how much is food in there? Pricey just like the rest of the park. Figure $10 - $15 for lunch per person. they do take credit cards. Also they sell alcohol drinks and appetizers by the wave pool.
Just got back from the opening day at Hurricane Harbor. Whopping attendance day there too. I was 34th to enter at 11:05 AM and the crowd had skyrocketed to about 65 people by the time I left at 3:00PM
They never turned Skull Island on. So all you could do was look at the water. They wouldn't let anyone in because there was no filtration running. They finally turned the music on at 1:00PM and then proceeded to interupt every song a minimum of three times to give long winded announcements about shows starting, no smoking, lost parents and buying season passes. Which was fine anyway because they were playing such Caribbean themed hits as; "Mustang Sally" and some Country Western stuff until they finally shut off the music completely after about 45 minutes. So you could sit there, sunbathing with no water and hear nothing but the screeches and screams from the roller coasters. I think I saw a tumbleweed go by too.
I wanted to ask the guy who runs the place what was going on, but he's too busy strutting around in some kind of makeshift Boy Scout uniform like General Patton to be bothered with the requests of mere paying guests. A more appropriate name would be General Fat One since he has three bellies hanging over his belt. I remember him from a near hundred degree day last year smirking as he made everyone wait in line simmering in their own juices until precisely 11:00am to open the Harbor. I don't know how a place with such great and friendly employee's manages to keep such poor management in place.
Hopefully things will be better tomorrow. I also found out that one of the three refill cups I bought on opening day at the park was last years or isn't a refill cup or something. Whatever it was, they won't refill it. It's yellow, so if you bought one of these too, you're out $13.00 I am sorry to say. My Red one and my Purple one that I bought at the same time are o.k. evidently.

If you are talking about the guy I think you are, then believe me, this guy isn't a nice person. He is the one who got me fired from the park with his "supposed" sources. I didn't do a thing nor did I say what he and this idiotic employee claimed I said. I can fill you in more through a PM if you like.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/
I don't remember this guys name. I looked at it last year when he pulled the "wait and bake" stunt. All I can tell you is he always wears a beige uniform (Pants and long sleeved shirt )with paratrooper boots and a beige baseball cap. He has a large paunch, and struts around like Lord Muckity Muck. I was going to write to Mark Shapiro about him, but decided to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was just a "by the book" kind of guy. Now though after witnessing his snippy behavior on numerous occasions, I will be writing that letter.
I think everything at Hurricane Harbor was running except for Skull Island. (And the music) A lot of the concession stands were closed though. To be fair, that's not his fault. This time of year has unpredictable weather and attendance, plus it's hard to staff when a lot of your employee's are still in school. But that guy is still a jerk nevertheless.
Hurricane Harbor is still my favorite spot in the park. Please don't let the fact that this guy is there dissuade you from going if you have never been there. The employee's are always friendly and bend over backwards to treat guests well both there and throughout the rest of the park.
I try and save my very infrequent correspondance with Mr. Shapiro for important things. I have known him since ESPN in Chicago. He maybe considered a lot of things by a lot of people both good and bad, but everyone would agree that he's an exceptional showman. There is a real sense of excitement at the park nowadays and he is in part responsible for that atmosphere. I know he will not take kindly to learning that he has a member of management that treats the guests as though they are intruding upon his time. But all of that aside, Six Flags is such a great park, with such huge potential and such nice dedicated employee's that an underperformer like this guy just stands out in a bad way. I will be sending that e-mail, but I am a nobody, so how much of an effect (if any) it will have remains to be seen.
Back from the second day at Hurricane Harbor. Again, the music played for about 45 minutes (interupted every song for announcements) and then shut off completely. Skull Island, CLOSED! We sat by the cabana's near the wave pool. More disappointing then the above was the gloomy, chilly weather. Couldn't take more than two hours in the cold wind, so we left. Attendance at the park seemed a bit light. Not much wait time for rides. My kids tried TDK, said it was alright, nothing spectacular. Seven and a half million bucks doesn't go that far nowadays I guess. (That's probably what a tank of gas will cost pretty soon.) I got that jerky manager guy's name. I made it a point to look when he was having one of his "Hooray for me!" Confabs with his staff. I won't publish his name here on the board except to say his initials are J.C. I am sure hoping that as the season gets into swing, they will get things in order at HH. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!
dark knight just sucks in general. Even to say that is sort of glorifying it because it just opened. The theming is not at all as good as loyalists are making it out to be. Lame flashing lightbulbs on the lift that seem pointless. We are supposed to be on a subway, the earthquake ride built decades ago at universal is better for a subway along with king kong.
You look around and it just looks like a wide open warehouse. The most thrilling part is the on ride photo flash, and to think I thought it was an attempt to scare us.
Before u know it, the ride is over in one minute and you get more rush on rajun cajun
Alright, I just called the park and found out how much the lockers are. They go from between $5 and $9. My guess is that the $5 are the smallest lockers and $9 are the largest ones. Good thing to know to as I might go sometime next week(ain't going tom, that'd be a mistake considering it's Memorial Day and the crowds are likely to be HUGE ).
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

Surprised you don't think much of him...he's really a super nice guy. I have never seen the jerky attitude you post of here. He has been at GA for a long, long time, and I think he makes some great decisions for the park.
/\ I agree, I have always had good encounters with that man and he is always friendly towards us. I know he has been around a long time and has done great things for the park. I think he is a good manager and from my experiences friendly as well.
Universal Orlando Mechanical Engineer Marathon down, Goofy to go.
^ I agree as well. I personally know the man in question, and I cannot say enough good about him. Every time I see him in the park, he is always friendly, has a smile on his face, and to me, seems happy to be working for the park.
I personally feel he is a great manager and a good asset for the park.
It sounds like the one problem rasslin really had was waiting for HH to open one day last year, while waiting in the hot sun. What rasslin may not of thought about is that everything is on schedule. Most of the HH employees get there at 10am, as opposed to 9am. They have their own duties to do, to make sure the water is correct and things are working properly. Security has to get there and get to their posts....there are many things that need to be done before opening.
While it seems like he was holding everyone back on a hot morning, and it made him seem like a jerk, he was just doing his job.
Well if you guys all know him and say he's a nice guy, then I must be mistaken. I do not know him, and have never spoken with him. I have overheard what I perceived to be snide comments, but again since I do not know the man, I will take your experienced word that he is in fact a good guy, and I won't complain about him. As for everything on a schedule, etc. I am involved in live national television production and believe me, it's something that is taken seriously down to the millisecond, so I can appreciate strict adherance to a schedule. But, I still think they could have been a bit more prepared so that the music and Skull Island were working. Again with no personal experience in either that gentleman, or the park operations, I am willing to accept what so many of you have said about him, and apologize for jumping to conclusions.
