On opening day I was told that I had to put it in a locker. I just said screw it and walked away and rode something else. Then I came back and just hide it under my shirt.
^ That is interesting. On opening day, I was wearing mine, and no one said anything to me. Every ride that had the lockers that was open I rode that day. I also did not have my fanny pack hidden.
The other 2 times I have been at the park have been the same way. No one has said anything to me about it. Maybe the employee that told you misunderstood the locker policy.
Now that I've been to the park, I will comment on the locker policy: The lockers do not seem like a horrible thing. I had no more or less with me (camera, wallet, phone, keys, case for my glasses) than I usually do at parks. I was fine to ride every ride with all of that stuff since it could all be secured. The enforcement seems ok; there weren't any really obsessive ride ops trying to make people put all of their stuff in lockers. The lockers seem fine, and they can stay.

I went into customer relations to activate my daughters season pass, There was 3 people in line in front of me complaining about the lockers. If i have my $13 cup i have to pay every time i ride a big coaster. WoW very weak money making tactic. I can see it speeding up the lines but why does this speed have to come at a price???

Disney scans and issues an RFID card every 5 minutes at the Greet position to a guest entering the line. When that guest reaches the boarding location, another Cast Member scans the RFID card, and a computer calculates the wait time. This information is transmitted to the board above the ride entrance, to wait time signs throughout the park, and is used to determine the return time for Fast Pass. One drawback to this system is that the wait time that is displayed was accurate at the time the guest entered the line, not necessarily at the time the guest reaches the boarding location. I don't know whether the system accounts for the delay or not. The sytem beeps at Greet every 5 minutes to remind that person to issue the RFID card. (Disney calls them Flick cards).
Universal has a basic system, scroll up or down in increments of 5 minutes using two buttons on the back or below the wait time sign. Unfortunately, it does not get updated very often throughout the day, unless the Lead is on top of the wait time.
Actually disney uses RFID cards to judge wait times, they hand random selected people a blank white RFID card on a lanyard when they enter the line that they scan at the enterance just before handing it to the guest, then when that guest gets to the end of the line they hand the card over to the attendant and they scan it again and it auto updates the sign in front of the ride with exactly how long you've waited in line.
Not sure why, but I always seem to get the cards, maybe it's cause 9 times out of 10 I'm a single.
