Postby superflybri on February 26th, 2008, 12:05 pm
Have no idea what this is; but here is some information I got via E-mail.

Niagara's Fury:

A roller coaster, a glass walkway over the Falls?

People all over the world have speculated on what it is.

Now you are about to get one step closer to the Fury.

Go to Niagara's Fury now and enter for your chance to win a 2-night Niagara Getaway and Opening Event VIP Passes.

Still wondering?

View the Teaser and get a closer look at what to expect when you experience Niagara's Fury this Summer.

In the end, there is only one question ...
Will you survive the Fury?

It'll only be a matter of time before we know what it is. People at TPR think Aquatrax.

What is a Aqua Trax and how is it different from a water coaster?

An Aqua Trax would make perfect sense there, they look like fun coasters. I wouldn't mind riding one there, but it would only be open in the summer, unless some crazy people don't mind getting wet in the winter... :?

if you guys are thinking that the aquatrax will dive into the lake at the bottom of the falls i dont think it will because it will get in the way of Maid of the Mist

An AquaTrax is basically a roller coaster type ride with water splashes. Here is Intamin's official site for it: http://www.intaminworldwide.com/iag/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=33

Its think its going to be some dark ride that will lead you to the bridge that goes under the falls or something.

Did a google search, and came up with this page.

http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2008/ ... y-its.html

From what I have figured out so far, this "attraction" will be located at the Table Rock Center, which is located right on the edge of the falls on the Canadian side of things, and is a part of the Niagara Parks system. Currently, this is where you go to take the Journey Behind the Falls - a walking tour - and can find a welcome center and some shops.

More info on the Table Rock Center can be found here:

http://www.niagaraparks.com/nfgg/tablerock.php

The page goes on to say this

The point of all this is that something called Niagara's Fury is being added to the complex for this summer. No further info, really, is being given at this time though. They have a webpage up for it, but it's just a teaser at thing point.

Niagara Parks actually put out a press release though, saying that Niagara's Fury is the "biggest thrill, 10,000 years in the making." That's a really long R&D process. The release does say that whatever it is it will be at the brink of the falls, meaning out by the water's edge. That makes me think it'll be a steel ride of some sort... I'm thinking something devious like the rides atop the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas. It has to take advantage of the falls in some way, I'd think.

The release also calls it a "world's only," so it must be something we haven't seen yet... whatever it is I hope it's worth all the mystery and excitement!

Here is the link to the press relesae

Maybe a freefall ride down the falls? But man, rust would become a huge issue

I'm a HUGE fan of X-Scream at the Stratosphere, a ride like that would be sensational at the falls. My gut instinct before Brian's post was just a simple simulator, but i think i'll start getting my hopes up now. And i doubt it'll be a coaster or anything that would effect the Falls in any way, that would take major planning and approval to do.....

What do people think about a walkway like this one?

http://www.grandcanyonskywalk.com/

It would basically be a platform going out over the Horseshoe Falls side with a glass floor

^ the canyon walk looks amazing.

1) I havent rode X-scream yet but it does look fun.. But like someone else said, what about the rust...

2) Remember this is a multi-million addition are rides like x-scream that much?! Sounds to me more like some kind of coaster..eek, IDK!

I think it would most likely be a Skywalk type attraction or a simulator of some sort...

I honestly dont know why everyones freaking out about rust. Rust is the chemical reaction of steel and oxygen, not water. Now, water is an assistant to rust, but its not the main component. And maybe its going to be a different metal, say titanium? That doesnt rust and would look damn cool!

It wouldn't be economically feasible to build a freefall ride down the falls. It'd cost a lot just to get the bottom cleared for a foundation.

That looks so cool....it reminds me of Twister a little bit at Universal. The floor dropped and I about hit the roof but I was young at that time but that right there looks really cool :)

Yeah, let's hope it doesn't suck beyond belief like Twister though. I agree with what Screamscape said, the greatness of this really relies on the film, so let's hope it turns out to be a really cool experience, not a lame one!
