Opening Sunday 4/27

Let us know how your day at the park was.

Had today off work so my friend and I decided to go up and get his pass and get parking added to my pass. Glad I did, since you now have to pay $25 to park in the main lot. $15 "value parking" only gets you into the very back overflow lot this year.

It was cold, yes, but DEAD. Better than buy-out dead. They gave my friend $10 off his ticket since I had my pass already. Then gave him a coupon for $5 off the SPass upgrade after going through security. We were in right at 10 then walked on S:UF, RC, Batman Front, V2, Eagle-1stDispatch, Demon-only us on train, GDrop, Bull+re-ride, Viper, and Wizzer all by noon and we weren't rushing around either. Then we went to the pass center where there was no wait for our passes/upgrades/coupon books and left the park at 12:30. Kinda wish I would have stayed since I'm sure we could have had walk-ons and re-rides all day, but had other stuff to do. But in only 2 hours we had ridden all we hoped to ride today anyway.

Depressing to see what's left of Vu and SWF. Most flats/games/stands/railroad/water rides were closed, but then again they could have opened more after we left at 12:30. The flats I did notice running were: KC, Whirligig, Revy, Triple Play, Condor, and STT.

I'm no expert by any means but to me it looks like there is still quite a bit of work to be done on Dark Knight. Hopefully it will open in May.

HH looked so bleak and dead from Bull's lift. That's the opening I look forward to most. Then you know Summer is here for real. It didn't feel right somehow being in the park today seeing some people wearing hats. gloves, scarves, and winter coats. Still a great day. The Edens was a little slow on the way back to Chicago but nothing bad heading up. I'm sure though Summer will bring many traffic nightmares for those of us who take the Edens. Alternate routes anybody?

Condor did close after 12:00.

I agree, today was an awesome day. What would you guess for attendance? 3-4,000, and even that might be to high.

The only thing I wonder about is what are they going to do if the value parking fills up? Push everybody over to $25 lot, and charge them only $15?
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.

Hi,

I commute from Gurnee to Chicago a lot. I take 43 (Waukegan Road) as a bypass to the Edens mess. It takes a bit longer, but at least you're moving.
I agree. Opening day for me is when they open Hurricane Harbor. I could barely stand at the gates looking down the walkway to the Harbor. I never thought of looking at it from high up. ( I'll take a peek from above next weekend.) And it was weird (Saturday) with the cold winds blowing and no leaves on the tree's in the park. Plus, it was like a ghost town with hardly any people there and most of the rides dark. But at least it's the beginning of the season (with a lot of fun times ahead.) and not the end of the season looking forward to nothing but the long dark snowy winter.
Now if this so called "global warming" would finally kick in, we could have a longer season at SFGA!

If you were to take every car in the lot, and assume it was full, you wouldn't have even half of that.
Definatley under 2,000.

Yes i agree. Sunday was empty. Evrything was a walk on. I pretty much got in front row on all the rides, that included Raging bull, front row, first ride of the season. I thought it was very cool myself. :D . but anyway the lockers are in place and the T.V. queue lines look neat also. Upsetting to see deja vu gone. . But overall was a fantastic day.
