Busch Gardens and a Wet King's Dominion (04-19 and 04-20)

Let us know how your day at the park was.

Oh man.....
Image
I don't think I can wait that long!

So, I grabbed my Megan...
Image
and we were off to Virginia!

First stop,
Image
Some random McDonald's in Ohio for breakfast, yay! Man, I eat that crap like it's food!

Listen, I know you don't wanna hear all the boring stuff, so I'll give you the abridged version.

We drove a lot, saw lots of empty fields, found traffic, agreed that Maryland sucks, found that Pennsylvania rocks, and , yes, even got pulled over...
Image
Image
Awwww yeaaahhh.

Throughout the trip, the temperature thankfully kept getting higher and higher.
Image
It even got to be around 98 when we hit Virginia.

Oh, one more thing.... we also found something called "H Mart"
Image
For those who are too sophisticated for the letter "K".

After a day of driving, we finally made it.
Image
Busch Gardens Europe, yeah!

First up?
Image
The Griffon.
Image
We got there nearly a half hour after opening, so it was about a twenty minute wait.
Image
I am a fan of these signs.
Image
This was very cool, it was a safety video for the ride that was playing in the queue. Very excellent idea.
Image
Megan is scurred.
Image
And the folks in the booth were having a really swell time messing with people before their ride.
Image
Image
Image
Whhoa God! Ahh!
Image
Weeeheeeheee!
Image
Shiggitty Shplash!

Griffon was a pretty cool ride. Not nearly my favorite at that park, but it was pretty fun. And at the very least, it's very photogenic.

Image
Something about this disturbed me greatly.

Up next on our to definitely do list,
Image
Alpengeist.
Image
What an excellent ride and very well themed!
Image
They even had skis on the back of your "ski-lift".
Image
Image
"I'm fairly sure that that was awesome."
Image
What was weird was that the had this "extra row" thing... it confused me a bit...

Image
Children anger me.

Image
Curse of Darkastle was very excellent. It's this 3-D simulator thing that's very similar to Spider-man at IOA. It was pretty kick ass.

Image
"It's like I can touch you!"

Image
Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
Image
Not me, 'cause this ride freakin' rocks!
Image
Especially this part!

Oh man
Image
Did I mention yet how beautiful this park is?
Image
If I haven't, the answer is "very".

Image
Enough talk! Let's go get hit by geese!

For the uninformed, this is the very ride that Fabio got struck by a goose on almost ten years ago.

Image
This my friends, is a great ride. Probably my favorite out of this whole trip.
Image
It had height, air, and the freedom of movement that I think makes a great coaster. Not to mention it played with the landscape so well. It was mighty fun.

Image
The last coaster to hit at Busch Gardens was Lochness Monster. This was a great old school coaster. The best part was the seemingly endless tunnel.
Image
And the crew was great! You could tell they were having a blast!

Around lunch, the crowds were picking up. Megan and I decided to catch a ride on one of them sky tub things.
Image
Image
"Yay! Skytub!"
Image
"Yay! Miserable from allergies!" And I still am.
Image
Riders shall what?! Oh my God, is this a common occurrence?
Image
Flying through the air with the greatest of ease.
Image
Wow! Look how green it is! It's barely even green in Illinois, right now a week later!
Image
Puppies!

The sky tubs offered some great angles for Griffon.
Image
Image
Like I said, it's very photogenic.
Image
Image
Image
"I miss those puppies."

After a ride on the fairly decent Escape From Pompeii
Image
and eating some delicious Dip N Dots
Image
We went around hitting some of our favorites. (That's hard to do when they're all your favorite.)
Image
This lady bending over in the pink, however, is NOT a favorite.

Image
Ahh, but Alpengeist is!
Image
Hey! There's nothing wrong with being immature once and a while.

Griffon, however,
Image
We did not ride again.
Image
But like I said,
Image
It's very fun to take pictures of.
Image
Why don't I just give you barrage of Griffon pictures just to get them out of the way.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Okay, I'm done. I swear.

Hey look! Eagles.
Image
Play Hotel California!
Image
Oh great. Now I'm depressed.

Image
Yay, creepy rapist face!

As night quickly crept up on us, we decided to munch on some funnel cake.
Image
And we did. And it was good.

The day was quickly wrapping up so we dodged geese on Apollo's Chariot
Image
and saw this hilarious sign on Big Bad Wolf.
Image

Busch Gardens was a great park. Every coaster was fantastic! And that's no easy task.

Okay... one last picture of Griffon...
Image

The next day...
Image
We woke up to the sound of wet.
Image
I never knew such tiny little drops could cause so much unhappiness.

Well, we weren't going to let it get us down. Today we were going to
Image
King's Dominion in the rain, yay!
Image
Oh man, it's so wet!
Image
I'm having a good time....

To our surprise, the park was actually open and running rides!
Image
Yeahhhhh ponchos! A perfect souvenir to remember this day.

Image
Megan is having a good time....

Image
Poncho vision!

Image

Image
"It's soooo wet!"
Image
"Now I know why cats don't like this!"

Image
No lemonade for us...

Finally, a roller coaster.
Image
Wait what ride is this? Who cares just get on.
Image
Holy crap, rides HURT in the rain!
Image
Ow ow ow ow!
Image
Rebel Yell is next.
Image
Thanks to the rain, everything is walk-on.
Image
My 100th roller coaster. Billy Idol would be proud.

Okay so, it's tough taking pictures in the rain, so I'll do the best I can.
Image
Backlot Stunt Coaster was great! I liked it a lot.
Image
Anaconda was fun and painful. I liked that it was over water.

Image
Flight of Fear was great! We had the best time on this cause it was indoors. However, it was a great ride any how.

Image
Image
and even though it was raining, Volcano was a blast! ...Literally.

Image
This picture just sums up the day, I think.

Image
Oh hi, Dominator. Good luck on your inaugural season.

King's Dominion was fun too, even though we were soaked and miserable. I'd like to go back just to experience it the way it was meant to be experienced.

Until next week, I leave you with this picture taken outside of our hotel.

The End.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

Awesome PTR, I think BGE is my favorite park over Islands of Adventure, but its close since they are both such beautiful parks. I'm still amazed that Busch Gardens doesn't have a coaster I don't love. They are all amazing, and I could ride them all forever.

^I totally agree with you! Loch Ness Monster is by far the best Ron Toomer ride that i've ever been on and Griffon and Apollo's Chariot are in my top 5 steel coasters of all time! Big Bad Wolf is incredible for the type of coaster it is and Alpengeist couldn't be a better all around great ride!

Excellant trip report!!!! Great Photo's!!
BGW shows that you can have a great park by being beautiful and while not having alot of coasters, the ones that you do have are excellant!! How I wish that park was closer to home!!!
