Would it be fun to work at SFGAm?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

To answer some question\complains:
-Six Flags pays you minimal wage 7.40$ (where do u think they gonna pay you 12$ while being in H.S. hahha)
- Six Flags will ask you BUT NOT force you to do overtime! and you have an option to work AM, PM or MID shifts.
- If u r new in the park, they will not blame u for things... untill u did them, if it happens they don't yell at you, they explain how not to do them again. So please don't write those stupid untrue things about Six FLags. Yes there are better and worse leads, that may treat u lil wrong, but not because u r new or old, but b\c u suck. SO that means that u must have..... ;-)
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!

I'm considering getting a job at SFGAm over the summer. Granted, it's a little impractical because I live 60 miles away, with gas a $4 a gallon by summer. Does anyone who lives far from the park have any suggestions?

That would be awesome to just work weekends. That way I could get a job around here during the weekday.

But can you? That'd be pretty convenient. Hell, I'd work every day for nothing but of course, I wouldn't.

Got my job interview scheduled (and finally got someone from HR--nobody answered phones all last week then I got through on the very first ring today) :? They did the pre-screen over the phone and set me up w/ a time. I'll let you know how it goes!

My pre-screening on the phone went wonderful, as did the actual interview in early Feb. but I still haven't heard back. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned calling in to check on the situation. Would anyone be able to PM the # to me?

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

No one would answer the phones all week for me. It makes you wonder what they are doing. It doesn't matter, I got a job offer with better pay right near me! Oh well, Six Flags' loss, not mine!

One thing you never want to do is work at a theme park for money! If your going into working at Six Flags saying oh "I'm going to be rich!" then something is horribly wrong in the attitude you have chosen. I know Six Flags screwed up in your situation Coasterdude12, but theme parks are amazing places to work at you just need to choose the right attitude in order for them to be enjoyable.

As a wise man once said "you work at a theme park have fun!" :D I'm going to say this without a doubt in my mind because I know it to be true, you are not going to find another place to work that is more fun than a theme park. The whole premise of working at one is primarily to allow for guests to have fun day! Ask anyone who enjoys their job at a theme park, it's not all about the money, happiness in your job and your life is rewarding as well.

Don't get me wrong money is very important especially if your spending all that time working but all I'm going to say is if you wanna make a lot of money go somewhere else, if you want to have fun at work and enjoy the life that your living work at a theme park!

^I wasn't in it for the money....but the simple fact is I found a better job closer to here that happens to pay more. Of course I'm going to take the closer, higher paying job!

Well I'm happy to say I did get the job! I am 18; However, you need to have lived in dorms to qualify for housing. Therefore I need to find a roommate/apartment before July in order to keep it. Lemme know if you have any ideas!!

Now, what if I were only able to work every other weekend friday-sund and the other weekends sat-sun.. What are the chances I would be needed? I now have my blue collar job that I need to Pay rent.. but I miss working at the point so much.

Everybody on here is correct.. dont work there in hopes of making money.. It is possible.. but do not go for that. Go because you are going to meet the best people in your entire like. You will work, play, and possibly live with these people. You are going to learn something new every day, and you are going to be pushing yourself into a better work ethic.. which is wonderful when you finally find a "normal" job.

Going from 70 hour work weeks at min wage, with no overtime at Cedar Point to a 40 hour, very well paying job was a very intresting feeling. I leave this job almost everyday feeling guilty, like I have not completed a thing (even though i have) because I am used to busting my butt at a theme park, in the 120 degree humid sun. When my nine hour day is over.. its like "Thats it?....Wow."

I miss Cedar Point! :(

Also, just a side note. If you are overweight, or you just want a body revamp.. Take a job at a theme park. It is scary how much your body will change over one summer. Most of my friends called it the CEEPEE diet. It consisted of 100 degree days, tons of physical labor, and guess what.. that big mac does not matter anymore! Eat what you want!

Actually, me... looking like the ethiopian I usually do.. gained a healthy 14LBS my first summer working there. My doc was impressed!

Enough with my rambles.

I was approved for my apartment today! so now i live extremely close to the park, only a 5 min drive (I'm assuming that with minimal traffic. I'll be staying here : [url]http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=12585780056204252325,42.367881,-87.925481&saddr=542+N+Route+21,+Gurnee,+IL+60031&daddr=kathe+lane,+waukegan,+il&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=42.371555,-87.909492&sspn=0.03291,0.068493&ie=UTF8&ll=42.363681,-87.9041&spn=0.032914,0.068493&t=h&z=14
