Juno

After getting blasted on this forum for my opinion of the latest Tim Burton creation Sweeny Todd (Which I refuse to see by the way) Over the weekend I checked out the other movie that has seemed to get alot attention in the box office as of late Juno.

Ellen Page plays a 16 year old girl Juno, (Not to be confused with the capital of Alaska) Anyway, the story goes that Juno, gets pregnant after having sex with her virgin friend Paulie Bleeker played by Michael Cera.

Juno makes a rather uncommon decision about her child and Ill leave that for you to find out when you see this movie.

Juno has some offbeat and quirky lines especially one rather funny line by Juno's Step Mother in the ultrasound office (I wont spoil that for you) and a few others as well, including one line by a store clerk after Juno uses her 3rd pregnancy test.

All in all Juno is a good movie to catch on cable or rent. It does have some sarcastic lines and the ending is very touching. But other then that Id consider this movie your typical date movie. Im not really a fan of teenage drama, and pretty much a movie about a 16 year old girl getting pregnant is just that. But, all it all alright.

Juno gets 2 1/2 Stars out of 5.

^Basically what he/she is saying is that if you don't like the movies that he/she likes you have no taste.

But I'm curious as to why you didn't like this movie for one reason. You mentioned that it was a cutsie date type movie but the biggest reason why I loved the movie was because it took the chick flick to a new level. It was a chick flick without the romance part. It focused on a kid growing up and making big time decisions instead of a kid growing up and falling in love.

Cloverfield 4.5/5
Overall it was a great movie. I loved it. The special effects were very good. It did a very good job of keeping you wondering what's going to happen next. The one main thing that disappointed me was that it had a very slow beginning. I realize they had to set the stage for the rest of the movie, but it seemed like it took awhile. Other than that, it was great.

Juno.

I would pretty much have to agree with what Galvan has to say about this movie. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I like Ellen Page as an actress (if you really want to see her shine, check out Hard Candy), and i don't think any other actress would have been able to pull that character off the way she did.
There are some really good one-liners from pretty much everybody in the cast, that had me cracking a smile, but not laughing out loud. A good enough ending to make the girls shed a tear, but the guys roll their eyes like they saw it coming a mile away.

I'll give it a 3/5, mostly because of the acting of Ellen Page.

Vantage Point
7/10

It wasn't bad, but it didn't blow my mind either. I was suprised at how many times the clock rolled back. I was also suprised at how short it was. It was pretty action packed and the storyline was pretty decent...

^I would agree with you completely on that one!

Run Fatboy Run: EXCELLENT FILM!!!!!! It was extremely funny, it's heart is in the right place, and the characters are really well developed on. It had a really sweet and friendly feel to it, which i think totally complimented the humor! 5/5 DEFINITELY on this one...a must see for me!

21: Another AWESOME FILM!!!!!! It's not every weekend that i see two movies that i would rank on my top films list.....this one is completely different from Run Fatboy Run, where the comedy is replaced with intense action, and the surprise storyline doesn't come from the heart, but rather the plot twists. I loved the last couple of scenes to this movie, and for being an action movie, i'd say it's one of the best in terms of tying everything together by the end!!! I'm soooooo happy with this one and it made me miss Vegas 5/5!!

21- was very good, I'd say a solid 4/5. All the characters were well acted, but i feel as though they were not given enough room to breathe from the director. They seemed so intent on doing the next CG card sequence that they rushed everything else. I'm told that this movie was long but it flew by for me, I actually wish it could have been longer just to give the actors some time to actually show the emotions of their characters.

10,000BC- I was dragged to this movie by force. I fell asleep, I was so bored. The Plot was stupid and predictable, and the acting was sub-par to say the least. 1/5

10,000 BC - Do yourself a favor and watch the Matrix Reloaded instead. Exact same plot with the same characters but its more believable.

I DID THE EXACT SAME THING! I have never fallen asleep in a theater before but that movie was absolute crap. The (alleged) plot, I could have written myself. The guys name being tick tock or whatever was the funniest thing ever though I'll give them that much.

1/10,000 (The 1 is because of that guys name)

The Mist:

Sometimes Stephen King novels don't transpire well into movies, (Christine, Cujo, IT), but there are quite a few that are real winners (The Shining, Misery, Shawshank, Carrie) to name a few. I would have to toss in The Mist into the winner circle. It was one of the few movies I didn't want to end, but in the same time, it felt like I had been watching the movie for 2 hours, and only an hour had passed. Not going to give away the movie, but in nutshell, mist rolls into town that harbors some wacked out baddies, A group of people are hiding away in a supermarket trying to find a way out, while some God loving women praises that it is the end times, slowly building a cult following within the survivors.
Great movie, full of suspense, and a pretty damn good ending.

4/5

Do yourself a favor, and read the book as well. Goes into more detail about everything.

^I actually really liked the movie...until the end. It wasn't what the main character did (I'm trying not the give away plot here) It was what happened after he did it. I'm sorry but it had the most unsatisfying end to a movie ever. I was angry for two days after the end of what had, up 'til then, been a good ending. I'm not saying I wanted a Happy go lucky and they all lived happily ever after ending, but It was so unsatisfying that it completly ruined the movie for me.

^I agree, the ending REALLY upset me, i was really upset about if for the next couple of hours....

Okay, so I'm a HUGE fan of the band Yellowcard and their song "How I Go" which was written about the movie Big Fish (Tim Burton). So I FINALLY got around to seeing this one and thought i'd share! I absolutely loved it and thought it was one of Tim Burton's best and i now own it! Great song, even greater movie!!!

Tony, Mustard, I thought the ending was near perfect. Seeing all the hopelessness around them, he did what he thought would be best, only to find out that if he should have waited a few more minutes. That ending still is in my mind. Much different ending in the book.

BOOK SPOILERS BELOW....................

The book ends with the same group of people hiding out in a motel. The same situation: Five survivors, and four bullets. They make a pact that if the situation gets worse, they will do what they have to. The main character finds a radio, and listens to see if there is anybody else out there. He believes he hears two words, but is not sure if it is his imagination. He tells us that he is going to whisper two words into his sons ear. One of them is Hartford, and the other word is hope.

21- This movie was simply amazing!!!!!!! I loved everything about it, it kept you interested throught the whole 2 1/2 hours of it (about), twists happened, multiple story lines that all tied into each other and actually made sense, and an awesome laugh out loud ending! The movie opens with the ending scene and the whole premisis of the movie was a flash back while Ben (main character) is telling a story trying to get a scholarship. If you havent seen it yet, you really should. I was so intregged by this movie I actually looked up how to count cards! (dont worry, i'm not old enough to gamble and i would never count cards in a casino).

10/10!!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw Cloverfield and it pretty much rocked.

The ending was ok, but I wish it would of ended another way. Other than that it was great. I don't want to say too much because it will ruin it for someone who hasn't seen it yet.

My mom just bought me Juno I thought it was really cute. She bought it for me cause I was adopted when I was younger and it's all about adoption and I just thought it was a cute movie. I recommend watching it even if you aren't adopted. 5/5
