In 2009, I will be making a road-trip with a friend's family, and I had a question about a park decision. We're visiting about 5 parks total, but we can only visit one in the San Francisco Area. I was wondering if I should go to California's Great America or Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. The reason I'm asking so early is because my friend's mom who is leading the trip (my friend and I will be driving seperate) wants to know what parks we want to go to by May. What do you guys suggest?
The other parks we are visiting for sure are: Elitch Gardens, Lagoon Amusement Park, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Castles n' Coasters, Frontier City, Adventureland, and possibly Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver.
Well, to save money, get a season pass and you wont have to pay just only fo california's great amerca, if you go to sfdk, you can you the oass here to so that is what I would do.
I went to SFDK back when it was still SF Marine World. It's easily one of my favorite SF parks. I don't know if it's changed much, but back then it was better than Paramount's Great America. However, people say GA has changed for the better since Cedar Fair bought it.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in my opinion is better since it has theming and actually good coasters as opposed to California's Great America that is probably on the level of Santa's Village, only more kids rides.
^Obviously you've never been to California's Great America because the Demon there is rough, the drop isn't as steep, and is in worse condition than our Demon. Vortex and Iron Wolf have nothing in common, save that they are both Stand up coasters. I thought Top Gun was a great ride but I still like Batman the Ride better.
Well, after reading those ^ articles, I'm thinking about going to Great America, considering the possibility that the park will be sold and removed. There are no possibilities of that happening to SFDK that I know of...
If you're going to be in the southern california area, go to Disneyland and Knott's berry farm. Space Mountain is AWESOME!! they just refurbished it 2005, and California Screamin ROCKS. Xccelerator at Knott's is awesome, 0-80 in 2 seconds (California Screamin is 0-60 in 2 seconds), and the Silver Bullet is way better than Batman the Ride.
