Yeah, they aren't the most talented. But i guess if you think about, if you are putting all your time and money into a project, the naming would be special and more effort would be put towards it. In this case, you have a crap ton of rides that need new names and they are all going to still be refered to by their old names from most, so it seems like they just quickly made a 10 minute decision.

^Yes, it's definitely an unsuiting name! I just saw pics of the logos for these new names and it doesn't even look like they put effort into the ride signs. Drop Tower's sign looks almost identical...

Since when is Dominator a good name? Or VooDoo? Or Silver Bullet? Or Scream!? Wait, that last one was Six Flags. It's safe to say Cedar Fair has never truly been good at naming coasters.
Without getting into too much Detail, It sounds to me like Afterburn is something Men buy after a bad date.
At least Scream Makes since.
I should work for Cedar Fair with naming
I would rename the rides
Drop Zone: Stunt Tower
Italian Job: Stunt Track Coaster/ Congo Racer/ Congo Chase (Kings Dominion)
Top Gun for PKI, PCar & PCW: F16, Tomcat, G-Force, Laser, or Soundwave
Top Gun for CGam: Jambalaya (Fit in with Orleans Place Theme)
You have to remember that Italian Job at Kings Dominion is in the middle of the parks Congo Jungle Area.
How about Voodoo for Flight Deck at California's Great America to fit in with the Orleans Place theme. It would add theming to a park that has little theming left in it.
An afterburner (or reheat) is an additional component added to some jet engines, primarily those on military supersonic aircraft. Its purpose is to provide a temporary increase in thrust, both for supersonic flight and for takeoff (as the high wing loading typical of supersonic aircraft designs means that take-off speed is very high).
so considering top gun was about fighter jets or something, i think afterburn is a perfectly suiting name
as for C'sGAm's Flight Deck (which i agree is a horrible name too)
how about bayou blaster???
i think it is better than jambalaya and voodoo
I've decided to put my name after my posts

Its just the names of the coasters. It doesnt matter that much or change the ride in any way.
Look at Millenium Force. If that had a name and theming of say Superman...then it was changed to Millenium Force, it would seem like a stupid name. So it went from TopGun to Flight Deck, so it seems like a crappy name because of the previous title.

Not a big deal? You should have been on RRC around 99-00 before Millennium Force opened at CP, literally a thousand post thread titled Millennium is spelled with 2 n's

I actually like Cedar Fair names! Sure they've had some obviously dumb ones, some are really cool. I like Hydra (considering the connection with Hercules and all) and Steel Venum. Every company has their bad names....Universal's Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket or Scream would be on that list....and Fahrenheit? seriously, Cedar Fair isn't all that bad compared to some others i've heard.
The naming itself i feel is very important to a successful ride, it's the first thing people know about an attraction and it's one of the few individual things about an attraction that is mentioned in literally EVERY conversion about it...so i'd say it's a rather key element....

RRC stands for Rec. Roller-Coaster and it's a Usenet Group. Usenet for those who dont know is basically the predecessor to message boards such as this. It's also the predecessor to the internet in general.
With the proliferation of message boards, usenet is shrinking, but there are still some hard core usenet fans out there, RRC has gone from hundreds of members down to a handfull, but it's still pretty entertaining. It's nice cause there is no moderation, no censorship, no control over anything (including spam).
