Evidence of Global Cooling

Tuesday we told you about several areas around the planet experiencing record cold and snowpack — in the face of all the predictions of global warming.

Now there is word that all four major global temperature tracking outlets have released data showing that temperatures have dropped significantly over the last year. California meteorologist Anthony Watts says the amount of cooling ranges from 65-hundredths of a degree Centigrade to 75-hundreds of a degree.

That is said to be a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. It is reportedly the single fastest temperature change ever recorded — up or down.

Some scientists contend the cooling is the result of reduced solar activity — which they say is a larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases.

yep, without getting into specifics, it's mainly soot and exhaust in the air that actually blocks/reflacts sunlight. Works out in the end but cant be very healthy :)

....or its just a year of random weather patterns.

Global Warming is something thats been going on since the last Ice Age ended. What many people don't realize is that its not just humans doing the damage, but more a combination of human and nature. We are helping global warming with greenhouse gases, but there is no stopping global warming in the long run, not until mother nature fixes herself first.

But lets be honest, Yellowstone is going to blow before that happens anyway. Then we'll have a solid 10 years of global cooling. :)

Either Yellowstone will blow, the sun will explode, the end of the world will come because of the end of the Mayan calender, the second coming of the lord will happen, or we'll get hit by an asteroid. Looks like we got a good outlook for the future. :D

Actually I think Global Warming make's temperature extreme.

Winters will be colder and more snow
Summers will be hotter and deadlier

Just my guess :?

yeah, that's my thought too. but like me and cycamps (mostly cycamps) said, Yellowstone will blow or the sun will explode or the second coming of the Lord or we get hit by an asteroid before global warming kills us.

The sun CANNOT explode as our sun is too small to explode. Our sun will just die out and turn into a white dwarf leaving the outer portion to spread throughout our solar system. A sun only explodes when it starts to produce Iron in it, which only large and hot suns can do.

Second, in 2012, that is when the Earth axis is predicted to shift. No one knows what will exactly happen when this occurs, but FL can end in the North Pole or stay where it is. This has happened before and they can tie in some of the mass extinctions into these occurrences, but we are currently in the Earth's 6th Mass Extinction as there are many many species going extinct daily. The only reason the Mayan calendar and all the others end in 2012 is cause they had no idea what would happen when this happens and could be bad. So, as of now, they just believe the worst is that some places may flood over and the Earth may shift further south.

Yeah Dan I was gonna bring up the 2012 thing.

The Mayans had cycles for EVERYTHING!
The whole fact that the last one just happens to be then may mean nothing, it could be another cycle of...pancakes.

But I don't know how the earths axis would just suddenly shift, wouldnt it be a gradual thing?

I hope its pancakes.

But realistically, we can't stop global warming even if we cut carbon emissions way down, its a natural cycle.

The East coast has been sinking for thousands of years, Flordia used to be about 1/4th bigger than it is right now. The Ice caps have been melting for a very long time, and the east coast has been losing land to the sea rapidly. If we were smart we would realize that cities like New York are going to be under water sooner than we think, because thats going to need a pretty big plan to find places for those people to live.

If you wanna stay above water for a long time, move on over to the west coast, which is still rising above the sea due to the convergent boundary it sits on. Sure, you might get an earthquake every once and awhile, but atleast there won't be any floods! (Unless you live in Sacramento, then you're about as safe as New Orleans.)

I think that we, as humans, are going to screw ourselves over by 2012. Doesnt it seem like theres way too much "bad stuff" happening now then ever before? I think think we are going to blow our selves up with nuclear bombs or power plants by 2012.

Well a lot of this "bad stuff" has been happening for a long time.
The world just never heard about it before.

Everyone has TV now, theres the internet now too. Everybody can hear about everything.

It's always been there, we just know about it now.

I prefer global warming, these winters are way too damn cold.

And I can't help but feel that all of this (global warming, the end of the world, crazy Mayan beliefs, pancakes, axis shifting) could all just be a result of sensationalism in journalism.

Remember the bees that were supposed to come and wipe us out? What about those meteors that some how never come? Violent teenagers influenced by heavy metal and violent video games?

I'm just saying... we'll see....
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

The Mayan Crap is always on history channel and i really wanna punch something when i see it.

I think the world will not end in our life time.

I do believe however, another Great Depression will happen in the next 5 years, because look at how much gas and food cost now. Milk is really starting to piss me off 2.68, and I get it that there is no solution to gas shortage, but Robert Crownn tells me that cows can mate also so milk should just about stay the same. End Rant

We wont see the end of oil in our time.

Canada has HUGE oil fields, it'll just cost a little more to refine it because they gotta get the sand out.
