I am more than a little concerned about an amusement park being purchased by an RV company

Do you seriously think this'll be that bad?! I don't really see why. In any event, that's an awesome Timeline they had on that link!

I didn't see this coming, but I wouldn't worry too much about the park.

The last thing the RV Resort Company would want to do is destroy the attraction that draws people to IB's campgrounds. If anything I suspect they would put money into the park to try and improve it.

This could turn out to be a good thing for the park.

transition from family owned to chain owned (chain of anything) is very rarely a good thing.

And that's besides the fact that this company does not have a single shred of amusement park experience. I really dont care for the idea of trial and error being played out at IB

This could either be a good thing or a bad thing

Good : First Land value can't be that expensive in the middle of farm country and the company's bigger pockets could mean that if IB does good, More Similar things could happen at their other resorts. (Wisconsin Beach, North Carolina Beach?)

Bad : We lose the family at the park and putting their touch on the park and the classic become the modern with little history.

Wild Adventures, Cypress Gardens, Clementon, Story Land, Kennywood, Idlewild, Lake Compounce, Sandcastle, Indiana Beach are all in for change in 08. Should be interesting.

btw. I thought that Parques Reunidos would have Purchased them or Another European Company.

Could be why they didn't give Free tickets this year at NCC. Paramount Gave free tickets and then Cedar Fair cancelled those when they purchased them.

I hope everything turns out well with this. the timeline they outlined looks really good. The Spackman's seem to have full confidence that this is a good transition. I just hope they're right. I thought Indiana Beach was a nice little park. Hopefully it stays that way. :)

Unless I'm missing something, it appears that the new owners are also family owned.

The quote below is from the article, and is said by Tom Spackman Jr. (bold added by me)

"With the recent upgrades to many of our accommodations, the forthcoming arrival of Steel Hawg and now the purchase by family-owned Morgan RV Resorts the future is brighter than ever. In the years to come, Indiana Beach is certain to remain the home for all the fun things you love to do."

I'm going to keep an open mind on this, and see how things turn out. Hopefully this sale will be a good thing. Only time will tell.

Its not a bad thing at all. I think that if anything, they will want to attract more people by making the park bigger and better. Yet I doubt it will loose its charm any time soon.

It's good that basically said the park isn't going anywhere.

I pretty much started laughing hysterically when I saw who bought it.

This should be interesting...

Yeah, luckily it sounds like they found some former SF people from Geauga Lake and Great Escape to run the place. I think I need a change of pants.
