Well, as an architect major, i'm ALWAYS on these forums in between projects to get a break from my life of allnighters and loads of caffeine! Still not as time consuming as facebook!

Tonight's assignment is to work on a site plan, typical floor plan, and circulation diagrams of the Stratosphere hotel in Las Vegas

From my Optics/Lasers/Spectrography class in Mechanical Engineering...

Here's my Wed. homework that I'm currently not doing....

From E. Hecht, Chapter 3, do problems 4, 16, 23, 40, 52, and the following special problems.

SP1: How many photons per second are emitted from a 5 mW CW green laser pointer (532nm)? How many photons per second are emitted from a pulsed Nd:YAG (Neodymium doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnett) operating at a repetition rate of 10 Hz while delivering 100 mJ in each 10 ns pulse?

SP2: Estimate the power captured by your eye when you look at a 100 W light bulb (550 nm average color), from 1 meter away with your iris opened to a diameter of 5 mm. Compare this to looking directly at the green pulsed YAG in problem SP1 (assume the laser is smaller than 5 mm in diameter). How many times more powerful is the YAG? FYI: the pulsed laser is a class 4 laser, the most dangerous type. The laser pointer is somewhat less hazardous as a class 3a laser. Both are considered hazardous when directly viewed, but the pulsed laser may also be hazardous when viewed indirectly, i.e. when scattered from diffusely reflecting objects.

This is easy stuff though, more busy work than anything.

Well, actually I just finished my Fluid Mechanics 2 HW, which wasn't very hard, all I had to do is find the potential and stream functions of a 2d source around a cylinder. And then find the analytical function for that equation. Last thing was to find a function at which the stagnation point can vary among the circle. Rather easy. Actually all my classes this quarter aren't too hard, especially my Manufacturing and Design Integration class, that one is really is, just CAD and CAM a plastic injection mold and then do it.

Cause of that, I am usually ahead and never really procrastinate these assignments since they are actually fun to do, especially when it is challenging. :)

^Oh yeah, i love the book too. I just hate the stupid ass work that comes along with it. like annotating to me is stupid because i just like to read, not take notes while reading.

I hate annotating, and I usually don't even bother annotating it.

TKAM was good when I read it last year... Shawshank Redemption was better this year.
