Six Flags Supposedly Might sell off 2-3 more parks to raise Capital. I just want to hear everyones opinions on what they may be.
Here is the Full List
Six Flags Over Texas
Six Flags Over Georgia
Six Flags St. Louis
Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great America
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Six Flags New England
The Great Escape
Six Flags New Orleans
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor California
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Texas
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor New Jersey
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags America
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom
American Adventures
Six Flags Mexico
La Ronde
Six Flags White Water Atlanta
And I see them selling
Six Flags Magic Mountain (Will Cost more to change the park then sell to a company)
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor California
Six Flags America (Declining attendance, high land Value)
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom (Landlocked, Lower value for the Company, Superman)
American Adventures (Easy One to sell)
Six Flags Mexico (I don't think Six Flags Remembers that they have this park)
La Ronde (Unflagged and easy to sell)
Six Flags White Water Atlanta (Easy one to sell)
I can see st. louis suddenly having a new owner...
I can also see a large real estate company building new developments for the families moving back to NE after the hurricane snatching up the land that the twisted remains of SFNO stand on...
Maybe a 1 in 2.9 Billion chance of reopening but only if NO attendance improves to at least back to normal.
How about if they relocate the working stuff more north to a new site? According to Wikipedia.org they say
It has been stated that the park would most likely have been more profitable had it been built somewhere on the westbank or in Metairie, as these places are a shorter distance from some tourist districts but more so because they are closer to affluent population centers and are historically safer areas from crime.
I don't see Six Flags selling St. Louis as Shapiro has put in some massive Capital in the park. Also, it was one of the Original 3 Parks that Six Flags built up from Ground Level.
Well, using common sense here, i'm sure Shapiro knew they would be selling a park or two in the future, and obviously, he wouldn't really put much effort into those parks. He has been seriously neglecting Six Flags over Georgia and Six Flags America since his reign has started. Don't give me the "they've added Thomas Town crap", he hasn't put in much effort towards those parks in comparison to what he has done with the others. People say he'll sell SFMM, then why is putting forth so much effort into fixing it up? People say that SFNO is the next to go, I'd like to argue that it's already gone....
He has three waterparks in California (which is the state of fun in the sun), but i can't imagine they do anything but add a little revenue for the company so they seem kind of useless to sell. As for American Adventures and Great Escape, considering they are smaller parks, they aren't doing so bad and really wouldn't help the company to sell them. Finally, when it comes to parks out of the country, i think Shapiro's statement about expanding the business outside of the USA would mean that these two would be staying.
Overall, given their lack of substantial additions and their crime status (that issue in the parking lot of SFOG and the rather ghettoish area of SFA) and the fact that bad area = unsafe for families (Shapiro's target audience), my thinking is that SFOG and SFA are next to go....
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter
- I think he's fixing Magic Mountain up to raise the value of the park for a sell
- He said that Six Flags Over Georgia and Great Escape were 2 of his 6 favorite parks (The Others were SFOT, SFGAm, SFFT, and SFNE)
- They sold 2 of the 3 waterparks in California
As Opposed to Starting International Again I think they should go to
- Area near Shanghai, China
- Area near Seoul, South Korea
The only way anything could happen internationally would be to license the Six Flags name. They have no money to run/open any parks.
They have $2 Billion in debt, and their credit ratings are B3 (Aka JUNK) which means they really can't borrow more money and are considered high risk to default on their loans.
Six Flags also says it is in talks to open theme parks in the Middle East, India and East Asia, and may consider selling two or three existing parks to raise capital. It will introduce eight new roller coasters at existing parks this year.

Combine that with the best selling price you could get for any park is about 10x earnings.
The best park in the chain (no suprise) is usually SFGAm....
This puts SFGAm's selling price at $500 Million or so.
So all Six Flags has to do is clone SFGAm 4x over then they are out of debt.
Oh too bad they don't have 4 parks that perform as well as SFGAm and this would most likely be the last park they'd try to sell since it actually makes money....

Well that's funny, i could have sworn that Six Flags Mexico was out of the nation.....so if this is true (which i'm sure it is) then how the hell could they keep the park running still? And as far as i'm concerned, the source coaster boy posted is the only solid source posted here even referencing possible expansion out of this country. For all those who like to jump the gun and overreact to my comment, I'm sorry for believing a source rather than something i have no knowledge of.....
Chitown, i was unaware of Six Flags not entirely owning SFOG, but i guess my question would be why the lack of attention? Or for that matter, since Six Flags obviously puts money towards the park, why CAN'T they drop the park? It's dropping involvement, not selling it off....
To the comment made about raising the value of SFMM, I think Psyclone, X, and Freefall (despite their conditions/ride quality) being taken down and the park only gaining a Children's area would not be ideal for raising park value.

I'm only talking expansion of International operations, I wasn't including current international operations (You can also include LaRonde in that group).
I do believe if a agreement is made regarding other international parks it would be in regards to either licensing of Six Flags trademarks and branding, or operations only with financial backing coming from a outside source. Six Flags currently does not have the money to build or purchase a park on their own.
