Cedar Point 2007 ridership totals

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Cedar Point finally posted their 2007 ridership totals. Nearly all of the coasters' ridership went down. It seems like they had an off-season. I would think it would be exactly opposite, with Maverick's addition.

^no, maverick was the problem. It was expected to be this great big thing, people came to ride MAVERICK (not anything else), found out it sucked, and just left spreading the word.

This doesnt surprise me at all, their staffing cuts made in 2007 resulted in inferior operations to previous years added with the fact they got another piece of crap Intamin that chronically was breaking down resulting in more downtime for other rides due to lack of maintenence people that are busy with their tempermental Intamin coasters...

Actually, while working there all I heard was great things about Maverick. While working it, i even met some people that came from Italy to ride Maverick. Maverick deffinatly brought people in, just not nearly as much as Dragster, or MForce did. As for rider totals, I am going to have to say that was probably due to staffing. I worked there in '06 and '07 my first season was much much much more enjoyable and staffing was very much better then it was in '07. In '07 they cut our bonuses, management went hay-wire, and every ride-op had some sort of complaint. '07 was a very rough year for staffing, and I imagine this upcomming year will be even worse as the employees are taking yet another bonus cut, killing any motivation to tough out the halloweekends weather.

Wait a minute! you said staffing cuts at Cedar Point!? So they arent as perfect as those bastards on Coasterbuzz think they are afterall?

Cedar Fair is in the same boat at Six Flags in my opinion after they got fleeced on the Paramount deal.

Personally I though Maverick was overrated. why wait 3+ hours for a ride that was rough in the first week. Seriously!
