About a week ago the general manager said they were still on schedule for a spring '08 opening. I hope so cause I'm ready for some roller coasters and the faster these things become operational the faster I can ride them.

^That S-bend looks funky. I dont think that that will be a good element. I'm sure it was necessary, but it looks out of place and flat.

if you mean the track right after the loop at the bottom of the frame, it looks like an optical illusion cause of those supports, but I think it's a slight drop or hop/hill rather than a lateral movement.

Even with its small track, I think it will offer a great experience. Because any coaster that is inside will seem bigger when it gets close to the ceiling.

Yep!^ And it's pretty cool if you think of a 65ft coaster being inside of a mall!

probably going to take at least a week or 2 for them to even consider testing it, as just about the entire ride is being held vertical by wooden wedges (Gerstlauer uses a unique footer system) :)

I would think it will soft open before March.

It still amazes me the things they are putting in this mall! Lots of new rides to check out this season, makes me want to head up to Mall Of America! The one thing i think is funny is the fact that such an intense ride is named after such a childish show. :D

on another msg board a mall employee posts, I guess it's getting extensive themeing with a tunnel and it's unlikely it will open for some time. I guess that whole corner of the park will get a Spongebob theme.

I personally like Spongebob there is more adult humor in it than you may think, if you've never seen it. A few episodes have a few rally entertaining sexual references, though it's all done to fly right over the heads of kids for the parents who are forced to watch what the kids want to watch :)

Spongebob Rox! I'll still be watching it when I'm an adult. In fact, I'm watching it right now! Go SB! Everybody has to love Spongebob in order to ride it! JK.

as I type this and for about the next 8 mins you will see the large tower section dangling from the crane in a fairly precarious position :)

Also if you count that as a coaster that would make all DiskO's and similar rides coasters :)

Diskos have a different track than half pipes and half pipes are a lot bigger.

So IS it a halfpipe ride like at Elitch Gardens or is it a disk'O?! (Which in the case of Survivor at KGA, IS in fact considered a coaster by RCDB)

Just look at the station. The station is curving, its probably a Disk'o. ANd its called "splat-'O'-sphere" giving a hint of a disk "O"

it is an Intamin Halfpipe just like Elitch (well shorter), but the ride action is exactly the same. Propulsion system at the bottom of the U then it just rocks back and forth.

A DiskO is a simple carnival ride that is only a simple little U shape like the one at Mt. Olympus. Stuff like Survivor is also considered a diskO even though it has more than just a simple U. DiskO are smaller and Half Pipes are bigger. Halfpipes go up at a 90 degree angle DiskO's don't. Pretty simple if you look at pics. Also, their trains/cars are different. Halfpipe is more of skateboard shape acting like your doing a HALFPIPE on it that's why it's called a halfpipe coaster. I looked at RCDB and it didn't say Survivor was a coaster.

Splat-O-Sphere is the orange and white drop tower. Avatar is the blue half pipe coaster.
