1- I'm 15 and i see they hire street characters at 15. However, when i applied at DoD, they said i needed a gov't work release. After i got one, they said that they wanted to suspend me becuase i wasnt 16 and to work at an amusement (according to child labor laws) you have to be 16. How do get a job in the park at 15 in coordinance with that law?????
2- Can you apply for summer only? Because since i do work at DoD, that is all of late august - october. So i couldnt work FF. Is that okay or do you need to work the full season?
There are various places you can work at age 15, most noticeably admissions, games, park services, and "Ops 15" (grouper/cleaning queue lines). You must have a school issued work permit.
Yes you can work only summer.
Disney isn't perfect, but it is a much better job. That is why Disney has so many employees and can keep them.
The big question is do they keep employees who break their mouse coasters?
I didn't break Space Mountain yet so I guess so

All the restraints must pass a certain point to be "secure". Restraints can break yet be passed the lock point and "secure", so ride ops are supposed to pull back up on each restraint to make sure they are secured between the teeth and working effectively. So just because the yellow light is solid and not blinking doesn't mean its safe to dispatch. I didn't even screw around that bad.
Iron Wolf and Demon have had some "incidents" which can prove this, yet they do not have sensors for each restraint. There are sensors for the Platens, but that won't secure the restraints fully.

Where is Great America's Employee housing or do they use nearby hotels like Abbott does with their interns? (Don't try to combat that as my mom works at Abbott.)
Carthage I know they use, there may be another one.

If I do work there, I would not want to be stuck 7 hours at Jesters without a break in 100 degree weather like my friend had to do in 2006. And Iv heard that the Condor booth can get up to 110 on hot days.....

Nothing like cereal and eggs coming up at 11am
Just think about other things and hold your breath.

When I was little I always wanted to work at Six Flags. By the time I was a sophomore I worked at foods ( not because I wanted to but due to the fact that I was 15 at the time ) Working at foods is by far the wrost experience I had for a job. They treat you like slaves. If your over 15 they would try so hard for you to close. Sometimes I was nice enough and I closed which means I went from 9am till closing. When your working at foods you have to clean EVERYTHING in that place. Sometimes we wouldnt get out till 12 or even 1 am. I remember my first day they put me at the Hometown Funnel and they made me work at the Whizzer Pretzal, without any training! They didnt tell me how to work the cashiers, make smoothies, NOTHING. Now this is the leads fault for doing this. I mean come on! All he did was just run through the system as if I already knew how the whole system works. In training all they do is just tell you about the do's and dont's, not how to use the cahsier espicially run a stand by yourself on the first day of your new job! Then they moved me to the Waterin' Hole where it just opened that season. Worst place ever. Since it was new, the park barely got us eveyrthing we needed. Half way through the season they gave us a cooler to place the frozen food boxes. We opened it we found a dead racoon, bird s%#t all over the box. It took all day to clean it. Six Flags cares mostly about its money than workers. That year the park lost its power for three hours. Instead of shutting down its food places, they still made us sell food after there was no power. We had to tally up how many sales we made then we had to use the calculator on our phones just to add up what the total will be.
The next year I worked at rides and they put me at Sky Trek Tower and Space Shuttle America thinking it would be better because I always wanted to work at rides. This was worse. Going up and down that tower for eight hours wasnt bad, but the fact that all the utilities we needed for working was not given to us. It wasnt as bad as Foods, I mean you do get to meet alot of new people. If it wasnt for the people it would be hell. That year Sky Treak Tower was shut down for the rest of the season because of its breaks so I only worked at Space Shuttle America for the month of July till I gave up and worked at Hollister, ten times better than SFGAm.
Basically your supervisors and leads at SFGAm are either younger, or the same age as you. Some even go to your school. That park is basically runned by teens.
Maybe these are just bad experiences, but my freinds who also worked at SFGAm in different departments hate it also. I always loved SFGAm with a passion, but working here made me lose it. I havnt even gone there for the 07 season. Once you work at SFGAm you would not want to go back as much. Sure the pay is good but they make you work so much that you dont have time to use it.
If anything, work as a lifeguard, those people have the BEST job.
No matter how hard it is...Never EVER give up. The real failure is those who dont try.
^ I wouldnt say that. Although I havent worked at SFGAm as a lifeguard, I know what it would be like.
I worked at a high school, a YMCA, a water park, and a water front. Let me tell you, you get so stressed and tired. Not to mention that you have a HUGE responsibility and lots of training....so you need to know your stuff and be in shape. At the waterfront, we had 1,000 people plus in one area and we only had 4 guards. And even though the shifts go fast and the days never go by slow, it is very stressful!

The Lifegurads are always there really early though, and thier training is endless. As far as rides go, yes most of the Leads are Teens becasue they showed they were dedicated to the park, or the ride, or whatever. Being a Teen doesn't make you an invalid. Now if a teen is a lead who sucks, then it's the park's fault for promoting them. But it is a pretty necessary job so somebody has to do it. If you have a sucky lead, then you'll have a bad experiance, and it's not like you have to work open to close every day like latin said up there. Sure I know people who have worked from Seven Am until 1 AM before, but it's a hazard of the job. I'm sure it's worse on Extra Magic Hour days down at disney...
Captain, don't shake the passengers up too much this time! Just giving them their money's worth!

Guy I know who used to work Raptor at CP found a completely unchewed 6-8 inch long french fry in a puddle in the station once, actually he said most of the fries were intact but that one just blew the entire crew away.
