Universal Studios or WDW

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby sfgam1992 on November 9th, 2007, 4:00 pm
My parents are planning a last minute vacation in two weeks to Orlando. We will only be there from Nov. 22 to Nov. 26 and we'll either go to USO or WDW its up to me and my brother to decide. Any suggestions?

USO is cheaper. WDW is bigger.

Umm...depends what you are looking for....
Want thrill rides and some bigger coasters go with USO but if you want an all around visit, go with WDW. I think WDW is open later too, MK closes at 7 and 12, depending on the day; EPCOT closes at 9 and 9:30 depending on the day, DHS closes at 8; DAK closes at 5 and 8; depending on the days and USO closes at 6 and 7 depending the day. At this time of the year, there should be light crowds anywhere you go.

If you want to know what will be closed at the parks.....

Islands of Adventure:
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is currently closed for refurbishment

Universal Studios:
Earthquake is currently closed for refurbishment

Magic Kingdom:
Mickey's Country House: Closed for Refurbishment

EPCOT:
Spaceship Earth: Closed for Refurbishment

Nothing else at the other parks, Backlot Tour will have just reopened when you get there.

If you want more time in the parks, WDW is open way longer and crowds should not be that heavy. The 15th and 16th, the MK has Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party which is why it closes at 7, it costs ~$45 extra, but some of the perks for it are great. Anyways, that is the best info I can give you, unless you ask something in more detail.

I would persoally suggest USO. The themeing there is phoenomenal. Parts of it make you feel like you're somewhere else. The rides are great, especially Termanator. If you plan on going to Islands of Adventure also, then make sure to ride Dueling Dragons, Hulk, Spiderman, and Dr. Doom's Fear Fall. I've been to WDW also, and I am more of a thrill person, so I'd suggest USO.

WDW is better. Go there.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

We decided to go to USO and IOA because they have thrills for my brother and I and they have shows for my parents. Thanks for the help. Does anyone know when Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is going to open up again?

^ See post above you.

I definetely prefer WDW. USO definetly has some great points. Spider-Man is my favorite ride of any type, and Dueling Dragons: Ice is my favorite coaster, but WDW is a much better experiance. It's completly emmersive, and definetely worth the money. It's bigger with more to do and to see, and don't think that there's just rides, the shows, parades, fireworks, restaurants, shops, and general theming are all attractions in and of themselves.
Captain, don't shake the passengers up too much this time!
Just giving them their money's worth!

If you've never been to either of them, WDW is something to experience. I prefer WDW over Universal. IOA is a great park, but Disney has something that just keeps me coming back.

USF has alot of construction and walls going up right now, and not just for rides. I would say go to USF anyways, but that is probably because I just worked a 12 hour shift at magic kingdom and am not happy. lol

Personally I'd pick SeaWorld. :D

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

You made a good choice with going to Universal. The original park will surprise you in how good it is in comparison to IoA too, you'll have a great time....here's my must rides:

REVENGE OF THE MUMMY, Terminator 2 3D (wayyyyy better than Shrek), Universal Horror Make Up Show, Fear Factor Live (if this is open, definitely give it your time, it's an AWESOME show), ET (it's classic)...and if you like shooter games like Buzz Lightyear, hit up Men in Black!

For IOA, make sure to check out ALL of the water rides, cause they are all phenominal, as well as Poseidon's Fury since it's the coolest, most overlooked attraction there!!!!!!

Overall, you definitely made the better choice, if you're in that early high school-college stage of your life, Disney just doesn't do it in terms of vacations anymore. Oh, and citywalk: i don't know your age, but check out Bob Marley's nightclub if you can (get there early) and definitely take a seat in the Jimmy Buffet Margeritaville chairs...HEAVENLY! So yeah, need advice, drop me a PM...Universal is my home away from home!!!!!
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter :(

Fangs Up Cobra Style!!!

Sea World is amazing, the theming there and the dolphin show is superb. There aren't many rides and Wild Artic is closed till November 22 to transform it into the Christmas version, it is their motion ride.

Thank you all for your advice its been helpful. I think ill probably enjoy kumba the most of all the coasters there. Ill be taking my camera with so hopefully I can write a TR when I get back. Also does anybody know if any of the parks close rides down in the rain because weather.com sais it will be raining on and off all the time we're there.
