Ways to Improve Mount Olympus

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

^First off, Coaster-net was the same place that said we were getting a floorless in '05 named Tidal Wave.

Second, a B&M or a Drop Tower is not really in the parks interest. They are looking to make a cheap buck off of the casual Dells Tourist. They don't care about having a huge amazing ride collection, they just want you to get pulled in by a few big attractions, and charge you overpriced admission.

Next, a motion simulator would just be another upcharge attraction, and who wants that?

Also, the own those hotels, because it was already adjacent to the park, and Bay of Dreams REALLY needed some buisness with Great Wolf and the Wilderness right down the road. It was a good move on the hotels side, and the park gets to call itself a full blown resort. Good move on both ends, not really showing any big wealth though.

Finally, what would you be doing in a theme park that used to be called "Big Chiefs Karts and Coasters" and NOT want to ride Go-Karts and Roller Coasters? They have enough to keep little tikes entertained. They have a non-rider pass for a reason there, what if you just don't want to ride?

Mt. Olympus isn't meant to be a the big headlining park of Wisconsin. It's just a little theme park in the Dells, and I'm pretty sure that's all it's going to be.

Move Freefall (or Demon Drop from Cedar Point) and Flashback (Z-Force) from Magic Mountain, and DejaVu from Great America over there so we can ride them again! Oh, and try to get Greezed Lightnin (Tidal Wave) from Kentucky Kingdom, too. It would be great to have a place nearby where we could experience the Great America rides of the past again! It would be awesome to be able to take our kids on the rides we used to enjoy at Great America. Seriously, the park really needs more attractions to fill it up, and buying a bunch of good used rides instead of blowing the budget on another coaster would make sense. They might even have enough left over to plant more trees. Please, no more wooden coasters or go-kart tracks though.

Coasterboy,

How more unrealistic can you get with this post?

B&M Floorless Coasters, Rocket Coasters, Hypers?

Bottomline:

Mt. Olympus is a tourist trip just like everything else at the Dells, period end of story. If your looking for Coasters and such go to Great America.

Sorry everyone on my unrealistic ideas. How about some simple, less expensive attractions? In my opinion, the waterpark is pretty much set for the next few years. So why not expand the Theme Park (They are claiming to be Wisconsin's Only MegaPark). If I had control of the park, here's what I would do.

2008 : Sally or Mack Interactive Dark Ride similar to Challenge of Tutonkommen called "Adventure Atlantis" added to the Parthenon
2008 : Zamperla Galleon added called "Neptune"

2009 : Intamin Gyro Drop added called "The God Of Fear"
2009 : Amphitheater with 5000 seats added with concerts during park operations called "Temple of Zeus"

2010 : Intamin River Rapids Ride hevily themed called "Triton's Voyage"
2010 : Huss Suspended Top Spin with fire and water effects called "Valley of the Gods"

2011 : Proslide Tornado added to the Waterpark
2011 : Giant Family Water Play Area added to the Waterpark
2011 : Proslide Zip Coaster with LIM's added to the Waterpark

2012 : Vekoma Boomerang with Lapbars added called "Revenge of Medusa"

If you can tell me how any of this is unrealistic, I will apologize.

Also a few million would go to improve the park every year.

All I'm saying is that more rides will make people stay longer at hotels and return if there is something new that they haven't seen before.

Yeah, I know my name ideas are weird.

Don't get me wrong...I love the Dells, but the biggest issue out there that these places face is how to keep each place diverse enough to attract the people, and they do a good job of it.

Keep in mind, aside from theming, a tornado is a tornado, a master blaster is a master blaster ect ect.

At what point do people realize that each park offers the same thing? It isn't too bad now, but in the long run, some of the things you mention in terms of water attractions are already located somewhere in the city limits. Granted, most resorts now offer day passes to non-staying guests anyhow so that part won't hold up much longer anymore either.

As for Mt. Olympus, it's perfectly fine the way it is. It's cheap enough where the family can afford it and have a good time. The operations could change for the better, but that put aside, it's a fun place to be!

Mt Olympus is not interested in all of those types of attractions. The exception is Apollos Swing but that was because it was a up-charged attraction.

I don't think they want all those big flat rides or even any full sized steel coasters. The park needs to be unique because it is the Dells....and I doubt we will see anything that a (Six Flags, Cedar Fair) park would have.
