Dungeon of Doom (10/27)

Let us know how your day at the park was.

If you have never been to Dungeon of Doom, TRY TO GO THIS YEAR BEFORE ITS OVER!!!!

DOD was amazing this year (now, i do work there so i will try not to over hype things). I went there saturday as a costumer and was really surprised. I know the layout like the back of my hand and i still got scared.

We got there around 6 and it opened at 6:30. Waited around an hour. If you do go, get there early as we did. The line was at 3 hours when we left. There was also good wait entertainment. there was a warewolf who was scaring the crap out of the girls with us. And as always Jerk, Dozer, Casper, and Johnny were reeking(sp?) havoc outside tormenting everyone.

When we got inside the house, the first hallway was very weird. There was green light in the corner and fishing line hanging from the ceiling. IT felt like things were crawling on your face. Nice effect, i liked it.

The next hallway was illuminated by a small blue light, very dim. This first scare was a short picture raise and got you in the mood. Very quick and loud make you jump scare. Of course, this scare isnt over. When you get around the corner, the same actor is sparky. This is an effect with a spark grid and....welll... you probably get it. This one gets me every year.

Now, if you have been there in previous years, you notice i didn't include the Shock Treatment room first. It isnt there this year... or at least the room isnt. The scene where the cop is electricuted isnt there this year, but the effect still is later on

After Sparky, there is a new scene. "Resurection of Frank 'N Stein". I loved this room. It was very weird, there was a black light and a medium set strobe light. There is a tunnel in the middle of the room and in it.... A giant robot Frankenstein (with an actor in it). This room is a chase and very scary!

Next up is the classic "Scream Wall" or falling wall as some (we) call it. A black lit hallway with one of the walls full of scream masks. You walk, by and "AAAHHH!!" the wall is pushed forward toward you.

Right after that is another one of their ORIGINAL classic rooms. The Dot Room. I know it's coming but this room gets me every year. (Yay Mellissa!!!)

The next room was another new room... the "Slaughter House". A room full of red strobe lights. Hard to walk through. A body leaking blood on the side and meat hanging from the ceiling distracts you before the slaughterer comes out with chainsaw #1 of the night! Great new room.

Of course, that room was a chase. How do they slow you down? A dark hallway and a loud picture drop of course! This hallway is perfect for this, pitch black. But the room the actor is in is lit so you can see him. This room feeds into another slower-downer. Portrait drop. You're in a living room and there is a "fireplace" and a portrait on top of it. Motion sensor drops the portrait and out come this huge skeleton thing. Comes out slow at first, and then lunges towards you. Made my group fall down, i thought it was funny

I noticed that DOD used a lot of pneumatics this year. I'm glad the did. The next room required not actors. The Sacrificial Table had a hidden (screaming mi-mi) skeleton under the table that when the sensor is tripped comes out VERY VERY quickly.

The next room is one of "my" rooms. The Extreme Asylum. Four strobe lights light up these zig-zag hallways. The walls are covered in skeletons and burlap. There are 3 pneumatics that distract you (along with the strobes and constant turning) from the live actor at the end. This room is very disturbing because it has a homicidal maniac that has killed a gaurd at the end who want to play with you! HAHAHAHA

That room feeds you directly (no hallways) into another new room. The Barbed Wire Corridor. Lots of decor in this room. Lit by one red light in the corner and three strob lights. The only thing you see is a half body in the corner being torchered and a steel table. The actor comes out and starts going crazy. He has a chain and is CRAZY. I know this room well and it got me along with everyone else.

At this time, we are in the back and its time to turn around. Well, to do that, you need a long hallway. How do you fill up that space? WITH A VA*INA OF COURSE!!!!!!!! A dark hallway and two cushions that push you through..... ahhhh good times.

That feed you right into another new room. "Skin'd Alive" or the hillbilly room as we call it. Very elaborated room, lots of detail. You walk in and can hear bajo music. There is a shack with bodies slung on it and a skin'd body in a fireplace cooking for dinner. (this is another one of my rooms). There is also an outhouse. The actors come out, insult you a little and then get you the hell out with a second chainsaw!

By now, were around 15 minutes out of 25 minutes and think we've hit a break. But nope, its BUNGEE CHORD!

Next is another zig-zaged hallway with a strobe and another picture drop.... only with a clown this time! So now you know that the clowns are coming. Oh no. When you get into the first hallway of the clowns, there is a big wad of padding above you. You begin to walk slightly hunched. There are clowns everywhere. One clown gets you on the side and then BAM they get you with their own "from above" illusion. Ah i love this room. THe next hallway is the hand hallway. When we were there Will was in Mercy but i'll tell you what it is anyway. There are hands everywhere and this big guy with a plastic pipe is in your way.... standing still. You get close and he pops and goes crazy! IT's super loud and makes you run.

For the next minute or so you're in the dark with more of that fishing wire. This feeds you into the illusion hole. Simmilar to the dot room only you feel like you want to fall down (this is my room too). Now, when you get in, you dont see any actors but you see the spinning vortex. You get close and then one of the walls comes alive! I love this room, makes everyone jump everytime.

Now i just said, yeah, now it's the spinning vortex. Okay you get out of it, but it feeds out into another minute long dark hallway. But now you can barley stand... you have to touch the walls to get through. And there it is. SHOCK TREATMENT! Its through out that entire hallway. You thinks over and then ZAP you get it again.

Once thats over, what do you hear? "This way, SINNERS". There it is "Ultimate Exorcist" This year they used it as a mini waiting room for Burried alive. The show is a bit longer this year (3min) and has a surprise at the end.... THE DEVIL.

One they shoo you out, you then have to wait in line for the long awaited "Burried Alive" (best all time scare in America!). Everyone knows what this is so i won't waste time.

So now, you think it's over. WRONG. YOu still have the addition 1,000 sq. foot MERCY General Hospital. Lots of detail here, i loved this place. It was long and was very creepy with some good scared. And at the very end how do they get you out? WITH WILL! THE SURGEON MANIAC! AND THE FINAL CHAINSAW OF THE NIGHT! You get into the ER and Will gets a chainsaw and chases you out. And to our surprise right into Jerk and Dozer. (I knew em so they got the other part of my group it was funny :) )

Well, thats the Dungeon of Doom in a nutshell. I could have gone into more detail but i dont want to bore you with a huge TR.

Thanks for reading and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I don't remember any of that when I went.

I didn't get zapped by the wall.
Or the person on the ceiling.
Or the scream wall.

Hmm =(

The skellington in the table made me fall though.

Seems like I missed out on a lot of fun. But I do remember the Slaughter House but I thought it was after the dot room I must be confused with all the dark hallways one thing I do remember was the claustrophobia (sp) i remember my group being all WTF the we got to it because we thought it was a dead end.

But that house was fun even though it didn't scare me sadly... They scared the girl I was with because it was just me and her then we caught up to a random group after the tiki place. But i remember the Slaughter House and the spark wall VERY WELL mainly because i wasn't expecting the spark wall and I didn't want to go into the Slaughter House because I knew there was someone hiding in there. Well i was right and they trapped my friend in the corner and she ran into a wall hehehe. But all in all it was a very fun house especially seeing my friend get the crap scared out of I'm hopefully gonna get a last visit in on Halloween.

haha yeah their pretty harsh at DoD even in the beginning they scare you because to enter you go through a skull's mouth which has a door which is (or was at the time i went) controlled by a supervisor and he tried to separate me from my friend which would have totally made me have crawled up into a ball at the very beginning but luckily i was still holding on to my friends hand and squeezed through the door before he closed it.

But it is a very intense in your face haunted house meaning they taunt you, trap you, and disturb you which is what made it fun but I hope I get scared like my friend did when I go tomorrow. Because they literally trapped her in a corner for about 3 minutes with a guy with a chainsaw right up in her face yelling at her saying she wont escape and when he let her go he ran right back to her and trapped her again. =) I was laughing the whole time.

Well, there are explanations for that.

1- you may not have touched it
2- that guy was on break (if u looked up the glass would have been there)
3- you just dont remember it. Its abig house.

That's what makes it fun when people in your group are scared to death... .it adds to the experience and gives you a good laugh as well. :D

When you are in a group with people that are like "Whatever, that doesn't scare me!" it seems like the trip through the house seem more like a visit to a haunted museum or something. I guess it depends on the group your with, but I love it when you see the whole group ahead of you fall down together because of the scare in the room that are in because it gets you pumped up for whats coming. When my friends and I go to haunted house every year, we make sure we drag our freinds that would know would be terrified because it makes it really interesting. I've had friends in a HH that stop, drop and rolled (fire safety steps) in a room because they we being chased and just fell out in the floor and the actors love when they detect these types of people and they have a ball with them lol.

I went to Dream Reapers on Halloween and it was good but it didnt have as many "fun house" type of rooms that still had a scare in them but it was still enjoyable they had smells themed to the rooms like the clown room smelled like popcorn and what not.
