For those of you that didn't know, the new indoor water park in Gurnee is going to open soon, and they are taking reservations. I was checking out the website and the concept art, and it looks impressive.

Well,

At least we will have a decent sized winter retreat.

The waterpark is only for guests who stay there, they will not be selling tickets to get in. It states that directly on their website.

THE PRICES ARE A LITTLE EXTREME...

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

I really want to go to some kind of resort/water park complex, as I have never been to one. Where would you recommend that I go for my first experience at one of these places?

^Well, most of the ones up in Wisconsin Dells are really good, for a nice quick retreat, head out to Starved Rock. The Grand Bear Lodge out there is really nice and has an AWESOME choose-your-own waterslide. There is also mini golf and an indoor amusement park there and, of course, the beautiful starved rock!

As for the hotel, it looks a lot like the one by Starved Rock that i've just mentioned. If that's the case, the Wavepool will be too packed for comfort, but the slides look like they'll be great. Let's hope it sells well, our park has needed a large resort like this for a while now for out of town tourists!

This is exactly what Rosemont was supposed to be getting, expect it was a different theme and different hotel. The hotel dropped out a few months back I guess, but a waterpark may still be built.

I hear they are using a new "cashless" technology that allows the guest to use a wristband to pay for all the services at the resort and it serves as their room key as well.......interesting.

^ yeah they are:

From the web site:
I heard you were America's First Cashless Water Resort! Tell me more...
KeyLime Cove is America’s First cashless water resort. At the time of check in, you and each guest will receive a Smart Band® wristband. This will be your room key as well as give you access to common area doors and the waterpark.

The wristband also allows you to charge everything back to your room just by a swipe of the wrist. The wristbands can be used for vending machines, token dispensers in the arcade, fun photos of you in the waterpark, lockers, restaurants, spa, gift shops, concessions, and the tech center.

For your children, you can set up a pre-funded wristband to use as they’d like. You can add funds and check your balances anytime at our kiosks.
No need to ever carry cash or worry about losing your room key, “It’s all on your wrist!”

RFID Technology.

They've been using this at Wilderness Resorts for a year or so now, and upgrading to it at most waterpark resorts now.
