As rumored, the park has been renamed California's Great America.
New for next year will be FireFall made by HUSS. Doesn't say what type of ride it is, but the description pretty much confims it is a Top Spin as rumored (probably GL's).
Also next year, a new ice skating show in the former Paramount Theater, which has been renamed "Great America Theater".
Also, they officially announced Halloween Haunt for next year.
The big part of the announcement is 2009. They are adding a 104 foot tall, 52mph GCI wooden coaster. The ride will feature a low to the ground S-curve and a high-speed station fly-by.
Nothing was mentioned about where either ride is being built. Even though I've never been to CGA, it is nice to hear good news coming from the park for once. Hopefully I'll make it out there eventually
What I found interesting is that the Wooden coaster is being built by GCI. The same company that built Renegade at Valleyfair. Why did I find it interesting?
"Two Minute Ride"
Renegade : 2 Minute Ride
"104 feet tall"
Renegade : 104ft Tall
"52 mph"
Renegade : 52mph
"Twisting first drop"
Renegade : Twisting first Drop
"Low to the Ground S-Turn"
Renegade : Low to the Ground S-Turn
I rest my case.
I just realized something, Doesn't Renegade fit into Grizzly's Current space? Not trying to start a rumor.
Sounds perfect for the park. A cloned w00die from MN won't be a problem for the park, even if they take out another roller coaster to fit it in. I'm glad this is happening instead of the other option (selling the park).

^I agree, sounds like a great plan for the park, they've desperately needed a woodie for a while now! That Grizzley comment I found to be interesting....

from what I've heard it will indeed be a Renegade clone/near clone and the long closed Pictorium will be torn down to make room for it (along with area that was formerly whizzer and the railroad tracks.
And in the only wood coaster poll that is done accurately (Mitch's poll) Grizzly is ranked dead last every single year
Though Grizzly isnt necessarily bad, just just does nothing at all, it's smooth though very slow and boring, most people rank it last just cause it dares waste 2 minutes of your time with absolutely nothing with any redeeming value what so ever. At least a rough or otherwise bad coaster you can find something decent or at least it occupies your time for those 2 mins
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
^I would almost rather a boring coaster over a rough coaster though....
What's cool about this new addition is while people are giving a description of where the ride is going, i can get a good picture by referencing our park.
