Chiller's Zero G Rolls removed

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby EagleFan344 on April 19th, 2007, 5:59 pm
I was on rcdb today, and while browsing the Batman & Robin Chiller page, noticed at the bottom:

During the 2006/2007 off-season, the Zero-G Roll's were removed from The Chiller and replaced with small hills.

Anyway this really sucks because I thought the Zero G was the best part of Robin: The Chiller...

Everyone over at gadv.com is saying that this new hump gives some good airtime.

Whats going on lately? Ive noticed alot of old rides removing loops, twists, zero g's! like why all the sudden do they feel they need to remove these?

The Zero G's probably caused too much stress on part of the ride...so they took them out to make the ride last longer.

Same reason trims are installed.

Chiller had the 0G rolls removed cause if the second set of LIM's didnt fire it had a habit of valleying partially inverted in the 0 G.

Oh, yeah that could be a problem. So, now wold they valley on the air time hump, or at the bottom of the top hat and cobra roll?

Sure, it's a loss of a loop, but it never seizes to amazing me that a change like this has such meaning and use. It could be just me, but this intelligent thinking is pretty cool to hear. I prefer airtime over inversions anyways so more power to them!

From what I read, most people said it didnt give much at all. Everyone did say it was better going backwards though.

yeah, I heard the same thing, took out the star of the ride for some of the most mediocre coaster track around. But oh well, needed to be done I guess.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Did the zero-g have any effect on the accident that happened, or are they just taking it out for the heck of it?

well, Chiller is in the process of being demolished. I rode only the Batman side but that was back during OTSR's only decent part of the ride was the heartline, so in it's current form, the world is not loosing much.

^ On the website it says that the ride is temporarily closed, but Im not sure if they'll really close it. They are taking down the "humps" now. Maybe they are replacing them or something.... who knows for sure. I hope they don't remove it!
I got this infor from gadv.com. I thought it was a funny forum because all they do is ask for newer coasters. They sorta sound spolied there......
UPDATE: They are taking the ride down carefully, according to some people and construction guys. It is being taken down, but slowly and carefully. I hope they might consider giving that ride to us because that wouldn't be a bad idea would it? [/i]

Hmmm, well, it didn't really have that good of a year. It's kind of a sad way to end it's cycle as a ride, but oh well. Has anyone here ridden this? was it good?

Just trying to bring up some points... but I haven't been on it so I really can't say what kind of idea it is. It'll be cheaper for Six Flags, instead of buying a new coaster but then there are the maint. costs... so I don't know. Oh well....

yeah, I rode the Batman side back in 01 while it still had the horsecollars, only decent part of the ride was the heartline, rest was distinctly lackluster.

only one side ever opened this year and that was for a very short period of time before it went down again, I'm guessing SF decided the problems with the ride werent worth the cost of upkeep, and rather than another super costly mod, just cut the losses right now and give up.

This sorta goes with changing rides, but were Demon's loops made by Arrow? It seems like every other Arrow loop has a different structure.

I noticed that the corkscrews look the same as others, yet the loops are different.

loops were specially made to reuse as much of the foundation as possible from the bunny hops.
