8/15/07 - Rain and Lightning

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on August 16th, 2007, 1:15 pm
I went to the park with Jason, totally not knowing this day was supposed to be a CAD event. We got there at 9:40 due to traffic, and entered the park. This was when I saw the sign and realized today was CAD. We got near the chain, and when it was dropped, we decided to run. Originally I didn't feel like it, but I was so pumped I wanted to run. So we ran to Vu, were the first ones, and got in front row. Good ride with a tiny bit of drizzle. We got on 2 more times, in the back. This time it was raining a bit more.

We headed towards Viper and got in line. Wait was around 10 minutes, and we went in row 3. It was raining a bit harder. Awesome ride. Then we waited for Bull, which had 2 train op all day. It was still raining, and the guy at the flash pass lane sprayed some water at people with his water bottle, lol. After Bull we waited for Giant Drop, which took forever since only 3 cars were running. I got off wanting to ride again. Always gives me this crazy feeling in my stomach which Bull never does.

Next we went on Revy. While passing Vu we noticed it looked like it was closed for a while, hoping it wouldn't be closed the rest of the day. Didn't go on Eagle cause we didn't feel like waiting. Went to ride BTR, but found out it was closed! I was worried, I wasn't sure if it had been open earlier on. We hopped onto Whirligig, hoping BTR would open while we were over there. Then rode ERC, and noticed Cajun was closed too. The park felt dead, as in a lot of rides being closed. I was worried a bit. We went on King Chaos, and while waiting for the ride to start, we saw BTR testing. After KC we ran over there, and by the time we got over there, there was a big line and it had opened just right about when we got there. We went in the back row as usual. Awesome ride as always.

Next was time for some lunch, we were starving. When we got back into the parking lot from McDonalds to eat, a storm started rolling in. I noticed all the rides were starting to close. There was some lightning. We went back into the park a bit later, while it was still raining. We went to HH, and noticed it would be closing at 6. We started out by going in the wave pool. It was nice in the rain. Then we went into Castaway Creek, which was also great in the rain. The rain made it so much more fun. We rode some slides next, Typhoon, Vortex, and Baracuda. Then we went to check on our stuff, and went back into the wave pool. There was occasional lightning, oh man, we saw some NICE (and close) lightning strikes. I was surprised the wave pool was still open.

Eventually it looked like the slides were opened back up, so we went on Tornado. I love going backwards. Then, we went on the Bubba Tubba raft slide. The other one wasn't ever open. Wanted to go ride Wahoo Racers, so we went over there. Anbd we found out it was closing in 10 minutes, I was like, wtf, it's already nearly 6?! Then we asked some employee what time it was, and they said it was closing at 5. It had already stopped raining and stuff by then! We rode the Wahoo twice, and I actually had a lot of fun both times. For once I didn't get hurt somehow and it was very smooth.

The wave pool seemed to still be open, so we decided to try and go in there. Right when we approached it, they said it was closed. Heh. I was upset that they were closing so early, but we still had fun. The good thing was that we put our stuff under an umbrella, and our stuff never got wet. We went back into the park and went on Bull. We rode the front since the wait wasn't as bad as usual for front. It was great. Next we went on Iron Wolf. Then BTR. When we got off BTR, we saw Cajun testing, so we waited for it to open. Eventually we got on, and had a good ride. Next, we rode King Chaos, and I saw Vu running. So yay, it was open again.

What did we do next... I think we rode Condor. Yes. We forgot about the seatbelt until the op said something. Fun ride. Then we went on.. eh.. Viper. Station was chaotic. We decided to wait for the front row. It was a great night ride. Then, we went on Demon. Awesome smooth ride. Then to end the night, we waited for Vu. Went in row 1B. By the time we got off it was 10. My boyfriend didn't want to stay. But we went on Whizzer, since it was open and had a short wait. We waited for the front row. Good night ride. Then we left.

Whizzer opened sometime in the middle of the day, or later on, I don't really know. We had got on it around 10:20 at night. RC opened around dusk, sometime after 8 maybe, I don't quite remember the time.
