Cedar Point Questions

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby [jonrev] on July 11th, 2007, 12:14 am
I'm going to Cedar Point next Tuesday and/or Wednesday. I want to ride Demon Drop, Maverick, Blue Streak, Wildcat, Dragster, Millennium Force, Magnum, Gemini, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, and Sky Ride.

Now for the questions...
Are the crowds usually high on a weekday?
Any more "must-ride" rides I should check out?
How long will Dragster's line probably be?
What should I do first to avoid a horribly massive line?
Does Demon Drop usually have a short line?
Depending on crowds, should I be able to do all of the rides I want to ride in one day?
What rides should I avoid?

-Crowds usually aren't bad on Weekdays.
-You pretty much have all the "Must-Rides" on your list. Just be sure to ride everything at least once.
-Dragsters line at 2:00 on a Friday in June was an hour for Front, same in August. It usually isn't too bad.
-I'd say go to Maverick either first, or last, just because I dont know what the line would be like this time of the year. The night I got there I went to Maverick right away, and it was an hour.
-Demon Drop is never more than 15 minutes.
-The list you have up there, you should be able to finish before 4:00.
-I'm almost sure this is your first time, so don't really avoid anything. You may like something that a lot of other people dont.

Have a good trip!

Make sure to ride maXair also, it's a pretty sweet ride. Also save the rides at the the front of the park for later in the afternoon. When I went the front of the park early morning, Raptor's line was full and Demon Drop's line was 20 min (not bad but could've been shorter). But then when we came back later in the day Raptor was a walkon and so was Demon Drop.

You have most of the "must rides." I'd say do Wicked Twister just to compair it to V2 and see which one you like better. I couldn't tell you because the two times I've been to Cedar Point, it's been closed.
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

Ok here ya go. Answers to everything. I've been going to CP once or twice a summer for the last 10 years. Anyway...

Crowds are higher in July, so you'll wait for everything, but you should be able to do it all if you go on a weekday.
I strongly recommend Mantis. It puts a lot of G's on your legs, but I love it. Dragster's line is usually about 45 mins-1hr this time of year on a weekday.
Demon Drop is always a short line, maybe 5 minutes.
In order to avoid a long line... there's no actual way to do it... just play it by ear. I recommend parking in the soak city lot. To do this, just stay in the far left lane when entering the lot, and you'll follow a road around the back of the park. Then you can run to some of the big rides in the back of the park right when it opens. The lines are all really short for about an hour because everyone starts up front. Then things really dont change too much. I would wait until it gets dark to ride Mantis, because it is always a long wait in the day but gets really short at night. MF and Dragster are about a constant line all day. You should be able to get on Magnum pretty fast. Maverick is usually a long line, though. I wouldn't do that first thing unless you're like the first person through the gate in the morning and you SPRINT back there. Everyone tries it and the line gets huge. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me.

I like Wicked Twister better than V2. That extra twist adds a lot when you're sitting in the back row.

Ok more info:

My family got a room at Hotel Breakers so we're going in that hour early. Is Maverick's line still going to be long during that hour (9:00 am)?

YES!!! When I went my friend and I still ended up waiting 2 & a half hours for it. (given it broke down a few times) Just make sure you get there A.S.A.P so you can get to the front of the line.

^ yeah maverick's line gets really long if you're not like the first person there in the morning. Also, they have early entrance for people who stay at the resorts and for people who have Joe Cool club (an add-on to the season passes). So there's already a line before the park even opens to the general admission, and then EVERYONE runs straight to Maverick, MF, and TTD. But primarily maverick. good luck

Tip if you are staying at Hotel Breakers and entering park early. Use the entrance by Wicked Twister. They start taking tickets early and let you in the park up to a rope. The other entrances wait until after the National Anthem to take tickets to let you in the park. Also I suggest waiting till night to ride Maverick, its better at night! Better yet ride it night and day :D Also have a cheese on a stick for me... they are so yummy.

^Definatley don't use that entrance if you intend on getting to Maverick.

Sure you may get in earlier, but that is basically at the very front of the park.

Just get to the Breakers Entrance a good half our before they let you in, and you should get on Maverick in half an hour tops.

^yep. breakers entrance is the best way to go. And wear your running shoes ;)

HOWEVER... if you don't mind waiting a little bit for Maverick, I'd say run to TTD because they usually have a few rollbacks on the first few rides in the morning. If you can get on the first ride or two on TTD, then run back to Maverick. The line should still be pretty short because by then it should still be early ride time for the resorts.
