Just about 30 minutes ago, Boeing has debuted the 787 Dreamliner jet. The airplane which already has 677 firm orders was debuted worldwide via the internet and Directv.

Very sharp looking plane!!

Great design, bigger, lighter, and fuel efficient.

Some pictures of the plane can be seen here

Good to see Boeing progressing, would have to ride in one to see if it can unseat basically any airbus aircraft in the comfort department, though they'd still be vying for 2'nd place as I recently rode in an Embrarer E-Jet, now that's a sweet plane :)

This is so exciting, its the fastest selling plane in history, it will probably change the industry just like the 737 did. The Ejets brought a new level of comfort to the regional/short haul industry and the 787 will bring a new level of comfort to the medium-long haul sector.

would be nice, flew a 767-300 ORD-MUC was United and my back was killing me before the plane went wheels up, worst seat of my life. Funny thing is 767-200 on the way back was just fine (Air Canada) from MUC-Toronto, United has the personal entertainment and AC had the main cabin screen, old school :)

E-Jet from Toronto to ORD was all pimped out though, touchscreen entertainment, literally hundreds of shows, nice wide seats with legroom, modern interior.

Was sorta like a modern version of the latest Boeing 717's which I flew with airtran a few times, though anything beats the god awful MD Super 80/90 :)

^ The 717 is a variant of the DC-9 family (this includes the -80, -90) it was originally coded the MD-95 so you were actually on a Super 80. The 717 is just a shorter version. :D (Im OBSESSED with aviation) The Air Canada 767-200 fleet is currently getting renovated with new seats and a new on demand personal entertainment system. Happy flying!

Well looks like we have a trait in common... Being obsessed with Airplanes....

Being an engineer I'm amazed with the work on the CFRP barrels and GENX and RR Trent 1000 engines....

That and it looks a lot nicer than the WhaleJet (A380)

Didn't Tom Cruise fly this, or was that the A380?

Tom Cruise isn't a Pilot...

Your most likely thinking of John Travolta who flies a Qantas Boeing 707 that has been restored to its original condition.

A380 isn't in operation yet, Scheduled to come online around October.

The 787 doesn't even have a cockpit fitted yet, but the A380 is on test flights so he wouldn't be able to fly that either even if he was a pilot. (I know you said some of this in your post Ragingbullfan)
