When Superman the Escape opened in 1997 it was the worlds tallest and fastest coaster. But when it shoots up to the tower it only goes up around 300 to 350 ft when the tower is 415 ft tall...
When it first opened did it go all the way up the tower?
That rides a heaping pile of you know what, always has been. It cannot run both sides anymore due to structural problems and poor design, and it cannot run nearly as powerful as it used to or it will blow LSM's and probably cause a parkwide power outage. It really should be removed so they dont have to waste so much maintenence budget on it, but it wont be...
I sqw the ride on a coaster show qand it looked very good.
OncedI did ride it I found it to be very medicore. The launch wasnt that fast and it got nowhere near the top of the ride. IMHO the ride is now a piece of junk and while it may have offered a good thrill when it first opened, that isnt the case now.
Yeah, it used to go all the way (or at least most) of the way up, but as everyone is saying, it is constantly deteriorating, and will probably be removed. I also noticed on the website of SFMM that the ride has a Moderate Thrill instead of a high rating, which I believe it used to have(during the past sixflags website).
^ If they took it out they would probably put in another coaster that requires less maintenance. But that's just my opinion.

"Why is nice bad? What kind of a sick society are we living in when nice is bad?"
It was ok. The launch was pretty weak, better than V2 but not nearly as good as a rocket coaster. The airtime on the tower was the best thing the ride had going for it. Its about equal to V2 in my opinion.

Wasn't the park supposedly going to build a train ride that would have a station where Psyclone was? It could be BS but I swear I heard that somewhere.
^The train ride "addition" is just the re-opening of The Metro (monorail) later this year. The ride has been closed for 6 years, and should be open by next year hopefully, the park really needs it back. They talked about re-theming the Metro into a Thomas themed monorail, but the license holder didn't want that to happen. Hopefully something decent is planned for the Psyclone spot. About Superman, that ride is easily my least favorite in the park, it just doesn't do anything for me. The airtime at the top of the tower is pretty impressive though, thats the only strong point.
