Next BIG Thing

So we all know that every other year a park gets the title of having the Tallest and Fastest coaster. Its been two years since Kingda Ka has come out and nothing bigger or faster has come out. What and where do you think will be the next Tallest and Fastest coaster.

Personnally, I think it will be another Hydrualic Launched coaster that is 480 ft tall and goes like 140 mph...

its actually really hard to say, but since its usually big parks, I say Kings Island, since its big, and they held some records in the past.

If they were to put one, such as kingda ka, in SFGrAm, where would they put it. My guess is that they would get more land, somehow, or takedown a few rides. Sfgam is a popular park and we are due for a fast and tall coaster (depends on Shapiro though) because we haven't had any new "thrilling" coasters since S:UF!

^^ Im not talking about in SFGAM. Im talking about ANYWHERE.

If GAM gets a new coaster ( a big one) itll be on the 50th anniversary.

Lets get back on topic... (the mods dont wont another next coaster for gam type thingy)

Im thinking that either Cedar Point, or Magic Mountain will get it due to thier competition for the most and best coasters. Remeber, Superman The Escape was once the fastest and tallest. That could easily remove it and put in a Hydraulic.

I'm guessing it will be at least 5-10 years before the next record breaking coaster comes out.

No park is willing to put out the capital for something like that now, also the Intamin launch technology that invloves the very high speeds is extremely reliable, TTD still has issues, and KK is down more than it's up.

And really no one would really want one now, SF wont be buying any coasters like that for a long long time, the only cedar fair park that could use a ride like that is PKI which would compete with CP so that's out of the question, also when CP built TTD attandance actually dropped 3% that year. I dont see any way any record breaking ride gets built for probably better part of a decade.

I wouldn't count on any Six Flags parks getting a major coaster installed for awhile unless it's being relocated (resurrect the Ride Rotation Program maybe?). If we were to get any major coaster soon, it'll probably be a small one like a Gerstlauer for example.

However this is just my opinion and I could be totally wrong.

^^ I was afraid of that...

GAM doesnt really NEED a big coaster right now. But I think a hydraulic for SFOT would be nice on the 50th anniversary because it was the first Six Flags and the only one that has really been open for 50 years...

They could expand the parking lot and put it next to Titan. It would be costly but it is the 50th and who knows where Shapiro and Six Flags's money will be.

I doubt it would be in any SF or CF parks or even in America maybe in Europe or Japan. Who knows some parks are unpredictable they might be planning on it already maybe Busch or Universal Studios might built it no one knows its a great big addittion to any park though might give a park big publicity and boosts ticket sales and attendance.

Not going to happen, Kingda Ka was originally going to be placed at SFOT, However due to SFOT being in a flight path of DFW, the height limit at SFOT is 330 feet.

I'm going to guess SFGAm's next coaster would be either a Vekoma Junior invert or something from Gerstlauer.

They should stop with this junior crap. Seriously. Little peops have enough stuff to go on, like with the three kiddie areas, Spaceley's, Whizzer which they should like also, because it's not scary or anything and even Ragin' Cajun, which looks like it's something a little kid would like also. If we get a new coaster, I want something thrilling.

And how much do teens have to ride, I think we have too many 54" coasters.

54" Batman, DejaVu, Iron Wolf, Raging Bull, Superman, V2

48" Viper

42" American Eagle, Demon, Ragin Cajun

36" Whizzer, Sprockets

^Don't say that. You can never have too many 54" coasters, dude. Look at all the coasters Magic Mountain has. I wonder how many of THOSE are for kids. Anyway, and Cajun I think should be 36", so the smaller tots can ride it, because to me it doesn't look too scary or anything and it would give ones under 42" an extra ride to kind of hold them over until they're tall enough to ride the REAL rides.

Anyhow...I believe the "coaster war" as in who will build the next tallest, fastest, and tricked-out machinery is over for the most part.

Not to mention....there's nothing right now out there on the market

I think with the "success" of Tony Hawk's Big Spin, I could see those popping up all over the Six Flags Chain.

in my opinion, that's just awful. My parents first took me to Great America when I was almost 5. I was able to ride Demon and Whizzer, and Iloved it! I believe that's what made me grow to love coasters. I have a little girl who's 7 months old, and you can bet as soon as she hits 36 inches in a few years, I'll be bringing her to the park. I can't wait and I'm hoping Demon and Whizzer will still be around so she can experience the same first coasters that I did.

Yeah, I kinda thought Eagle was 48", but I still think Cajun should be 36", because it looks like a ride that little ones look at and say, ooh that looks like fun. I want to ride it. Ride ops don't say that. They are much nicer about it.

Also, the height requirements are set by the manufacturers. They set the requirements based on the way the restraint is made. Height requirements are not set based on how intense or tame the ride is. Yeah, Ragin' Cajun may be one of the more tame rides in the park, but as long as the restraints stay the way they are, that 48" height limit stays.

I was exaggerating about the ride op thing, but they should consider changing the restraints to accomodate 36" riders because those kids want another coaster they can ride before they can ride the bigger ones. Come on, GAm, let the younguns wet their appetites, dudes!
