At Valleyfair the other day it started drizzing, and immediatley all the coasters went down to one train operation. Wasnt really surprising cause some parks are really strict about this etc.....but when we "inquired" about this to see if our prediction of why the rides were in one train was accurate, they advised us that this rule was just made last week, which made us think. Wasnt the reason Magnum had its little accident blamed due to rain . I wonder if this is a rule for all CF parks now, cause if its crowded at CP and it starts drizzling, that would be bad.

I had a different experience. When I went to Cedar Point last week, on one of the days there was light rain and all of the coasters were closed. I thought that was pretty weird...

I know Knotts closes all coasters at the first drop of rain, CP usually closes most coaster, but after the magnum collision they blamed on wet brakes I would think all cedar fair parks will now go down to one train in the rain, if they are open at all.

^Thats funny because it makes me think of Mt Olympus. Although they only had one train operations, they ran all the rides in pouring rain...I mean, you could barely see anything in the distance. And we rode Cyclops and Zues and it was amazing.

But then the rain stopped and everything went back to normal. Then it started to drizzle and the new (rotated) Op closed down cyclops and told all the others to close there rides.

It just goes to show how those Ops are at Mt Olympus

I've ridden rides at SFGAm in pouring rain, other than SF I cant think of any park chain that closes their rides in rain (provided there is no lightning and that rides dont use skid brakes)

I've ridden Bull in a horrible downpour.

When I was at CP last year it rained for a good hour, and from what I saw, all of the coasters were closed.

I've ridden rides at SFGAm in pouring rain, other than SF I cant think of any park chain that closes their rides in rain (provided there is no lightning and that rides dont use skid brakes)

The techincal rule at GAm is DejaVu, Whizzer, and Ragin Cajun go down in "light rain." Raging Bull and Demon can only run 2 trains in rain. Rides are called down due to rain when their brakes or tires are wet to the point where they start to slip badly. Lightning is completely different, most of the major rides go down when a lightning strike is within 10 seconds of the park, the flats go down when theres a lightning strike within 5 seconds of the park.

Recently Batman goes down if its raining lightly too because of rust dripping from the track. They have to go down because otherwise they get a ton of guest complaints about ruined clothes and such.

Iron Wolf may also go down for rain depending on how bad the slipping is in the station and how experienced the crew is at parking the trains in the rain.
