Magnum reopened only a day or two after the incident. I'd suspect it being closed the day you went was for something unrelated. The accident was due to the weather (Wet brakes).
When I went to Cedar Point June 17-20, it was running, but with only two trains.
Also, when I was waiting in line for it, right when they sent the train out of the station, the operator was staring at it going up the hill. After a few seconds he pressed something and stopped the train. He then ran up the lift hill (the train was 3/4 up it) and than ran back down. When the train came back to the station everybody booed. It turns out that someone had a camera out. Has anything similar ever happened to any of you?
Its not a big deal at CP for an op to stop a train on the lift for something of that nature because the operators are allowed to restart it right away without having to wait for anything. Now at SFGAm when they stop the ride because some idiot has their camera out, they make everyone mad and they get thrown out of the park because maintenence has to come out and restart the ride.
Also at Cedar Fair parks, their equivalent of a lead at SFGAm is able to transfer trains on and off depending on the size of the crowd/line, some neat stuff.
