I havnt had time to look it up but i just saw on the news that the rapid ride at DAK malfunctioned and a boat flipped over injuring 6 people. Supposedly one of the fin sections got off and made the rapids to high. And when one of the boats came throuh, it hit the rapids at an angle causing it to flip. I'll get backwhen i know more.

There were two incidents at WDW today.

Incident One: Kali River Rapids

Earlier before the news had reports
WDWinfo.com wrote:While details are still sketchy, it appears there has been a major accident at Animal Kingdom this morning that sent several guests to the hospital, and forced an entire section of Animal Kingdom to close down.

According to unconfirmed reports, a piece of equipment being used by workers on a bridge over the ride collapsed, and struck a raft full of guests. According to one eyewitness, the water at Kali River Rapids was "red with blood". Several ambulances and emergency personnel were on the scene. There are no reports of fatalities, but some on the ride were severely injured.

News Reports from the area
wesh.com wrote:Six people were hurt Tuesday morning while riding an attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. on the Kali River Rapids ride, WESH 2 News reported.

Authorities said all of the injuries were minor.

Officials with the Reedy Creek Fire Department said it's not known if the ride flipped or listed severely.

Five of the victims were transported to Florida Hospital-Celebration Health and one was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital.

I do not have the exact links to those, they are just posted at those sites, hence why I quoted it to those sites.
Here is more details at this website

Incident Two: Woman Beaten in line of Teacups

Brief summary:
Aimee Krause said the bruises on her neck came from a brutal attack at the Tea Cup ride at Disney World. She said another patron quickly escalated a dispute over the lineup for the ride.

Go Six Flags!! Not having a accient since 1983, when the Demon's brakes stoped and when the Demon's wheels got stuck. Or 1976 when the Whizzers brakes failed. I don't trust disney anymore.

The Demon incident was 1998, and was the only one listed to have a Mechanical Problem.

Tornado was Rider Error, Bull was preexisting heart condition.

You forgot to mention that a child passed away last year after riding spacely's sprocket rocket due to a preexisting heart condition.

Its tragic but most things are not due to a mechanical issue, its either the riders own stupidity or a preexisting condition (known or not).

Disney is much safer and has a better maint. staff (not being offensive to sf at all.) Its only because Disney has more funds to train more maint. people. Most accidents happen at Disney from riders screwing around. The accidents may seem higher at Disney parks only because the parks are more popular. Theres avg 50-60000 guests per park @ disney compared to SF at 30-40,000 each day. You're bound to see more accidents happen in Disney parks. Dont trust them if you dont want to, but their rides are much much safer. And if it is other things that scare you or what not, our (wdw) phones are tied directly to the police and the parks are staffed with Florida police. If something bad happens (not an over exaggeration at the teacups) security and Florida police will be at the scene in a very minimal amount of time.

I was at DAK when the Kali problem happened. Disney rides have catwalk systems which are hidden at most rides until they are needed. In this case, an E-stop was triggered by the system and guests were required to be evac'd. The Kali cm's locked the catwalk system into place, but when the evac process began, the system failed.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
