Does any one know why they decided to not go back to the old park music this year? I thought the music last year was just for the 30th anniversary.

I think they're doing the same as Disney did where the 50th carried over into the 51st. 45th could be carrying over into the 46th.

Yeah, the Six Flags site still has the 45th Anniversary banner on the Six Flags logo so that may be true.

They had better, and restored back to their original lengths. The 45th Anniversary mix was a JOKE!!! It nothing short of dehumanized every section of the park with commercialized swill. Yankee Harbor was the worst of it all, and indeed. This stuff is more suited in shopping malls, Navy Pier, and in the office. Great America needs the MARRIOTT soundtracks back! That's that! And Fix Carousel.

I agree Midnight Syndicate does get you more HOOKED than frightened. It doesn't blow the socks off of you like John Carpenter's music. My opinion is that maybe MS is more fit for fantasy backgrounds such as Eragon, Warcraft, or Harry Potter rather than Halloween. Gotcha.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

I like to consider our park a carnival, because yes, it has rides, but it is also flooded with cheep scamming midway games everywhere you look.

I put in a complaint to the park last year no one responded to my message. I thought it was a bad decision to put in rock. Marriott music was unique you could not find it anywhere else. It made you feel like you were away from everyday life wehre with the new music you do not.
Thing though with the new music who is going to complain? Maybe us enthusiasts if we even think it is worth it. The GP will not complain most people do not even notice there is music in the park . Its one of the little things that creates the atmosphere.
Anyhow its one more thing from SFGAM that was from the Marriott era that has been removed
but then again many things that were once part of Marriott have been taken away like the Great AMerican marching band, alot of the original rides from Marriotts Great America have been removed. Rides that have been put in its place do not go with the Great America theming anyhow. Superman Ultimate Flight does not go with New Orleans and Batman does not go with Yankee Harbor. neither does V2. the lighthouse has been removed and much of the "harbor" look has been hidden. They no longer have themed costumes for the employees for the different sections of the parks. They removed specialty shops where you can watch people make pottery or jewlery. They used to have many other shops and they all closed they all sit vacant
They used to have a Barbershop Quartet somewhere in the park before.
All thats left of Yukon Territory is Loggers Run and Mooseburger Lodge and games and Kiddie Sections.
now the Wiggles Section is going to ruin the County Fair themeing a little.

Just to let everyone know one of the most common guest complaints to the park in 2005 was the music.

Yes, a lot of guests commented at guest relations that the music was annoying and needed to be replaced.
The music in SWT and Mardi Gras is a bit more modern and still themed so it was kept, the other soundtracks were replaced.
I'll agree the park feels completely different with the new music, but not in a bad way. I liked the old music but it definitley was outdated and needed to be replaced bad.

maybe thats what they meant at the No Coastercon when they said that they going to try to theme the music better. Maybe they will eventually just come up with a mix of music that will go with the theming but will not sound so 1970ish but yet not be radio rock.

I should agree about the game booths, not that they're not good. But they do rip you off a bunch! The games themselves are ok, but the problem is they cluttered up areas such as Hometown Square and the entrance to Southwest. They really took away from the true atmosphere. So far I like Scooby Doo and The Good, Bad, and Ugly in Southwest the best. I miss Up, Up, and Away (used to sit across from Sky Whirl).

I didn't think guests complained to Guest Relations about the old Marriott music. IT'S A CLASSIC. IT'S SOMETHING YOU CAN'T FIND IN THE STORE. I've been a fan of that music for almost 10 years and have been searching all over the internet for it. I'm honestly hoping they return it this season, including the old Main Gate soundtrack they replaced years ago. Maybe not.

alot of the original rides from Marriotts Great America have been removed

Columbia Carousel
Whizzer
Triple Play
HTFM
Orbit
Demon/TotC
ERC
Whirligig
Loggers
Yankee Clipper
Rue Le Dodge
Railroad

If you're talking about [Paramounts] Great America in California, then yeah you're right, but GAm has more of the original Marriott rides than it's sister park.

They no longer have themed costumes for the employees for the different sections of the parks

I liked this quality way back when but considering that staffing is an issue 24/7 and there's always ops going to different units almost everyday, it's more simplistic to have a uniform that everyone looks the same in. Unless the park was 110% sure that you'd would always stay at your home unit, but that's not the case.

Gah! I love the Scott Joplin music the most, I was so mad when they had the 45th anniversary music instead. The new music wasnt bad but it has to have the spiff feeling like the classic ones do.

^^Sadly, that's what I prefer and I sure hope they bring it back. All the theming was gone when it was removed last year. Playing 60s and 70s in Yukon and Hometown literally ruined the sections.
