LAKE DELTON, Wis. - In a wooded ravine tucked away from the water parks, restaurants and mega-resorts that dominate this tourist town, a piece of history is quietly dying.
After more than half a century of wowing tourists (and causing probably more than a few cases of nausea), the Wonder Spot, a mysterious cabin where people can't stand up straight, water runs uphill and chairs balance on two legs, is no more.
Owner Bill Carney has sold the iconic attraction to the village of Lake Delton for $300,000. The village wants to build a road through the crevice where the Wonder Spot has stood since the 1950s.

I tell you, it is such a shame to see this iconic attraction go. I am 18 years old and have been going to the Dells for well over 10 years, and in the last 5 years I have grown to see the Dells turn into such a commercialized tourist area. Nomore old-fashioned things but now flashy restaurants and resorts and stores. I still love the Dells with all my heart, but I dont want to see another original attraction to go. The Wonder Spot will be gone quicker than Wax World Of The Stars was a few years ago. Well I guess that people on their first trip to the Dells will lose yet another original Wisconsin Dells attraction! Read more about this at the link above.
That place is a part of my childhood, and is the most important stop at the Dells every summer. The Wonder Spot was one of a kind, and you'll probably never see a place like it again.
I still believe that there is a weird alloy metal on the other side of the ravine that keeps the Wonder Spot working. Good luck driving through there.

Unfortunately it was already sold for $300,000. It will be razed and will be forever gone. The Dells Curator though is collecting as many things from the site as possible so put together a display of the things. I'm sure it will be in a museum or even the H.H. Bennett Studio and History Center.

LMAO...Just think of this though..for the future.. when people that never visited the dells drive over that road, and they see kids playing on the side of it, tilting in every direction, what do you expect. I can just see it now...Wonder Spot Road, known for the mistake of deconstructing, which now leads to a Road that has more then 100 accidents of drivers that claim the road flipped on them..Officers of the local county say that they must have been high, or wasted at the wheel..
i never got to go to this place. i have heard about it, and seen pictures in the catalouge of places to go at the dells....sounds like a lot of people liked it.
The road itself is not going to be a "gravitational" road. It is going to be a normal road. If you ever notice when you go to the Wonder Spot (not to burst anyones bubble) the house is built on an extreme angle to it seems that you are tilted when u walk....the water going "uphill" is actually going downhill it just looks like it. It's an illusion, but was still amazing. If you actually believed it was real I deeply apologize for ruining that.

HAHA, you didn't think it was fake? The house is obviously built on a proper angle. I mean don't you think NASA would be all over a mysterious rock that has gravitational pull? It would've been declared some sort of NASA thing and Wonder Spot never would have existed.
Stop telling lies, coastercrazy, the Wonder Spot was a creation by God, and NASA heard a rumor that if they messed with it then plaques would hit Cape Canaveral and shut down NASA forever.
And the Wonder Spot is only open seasonally - so it will probably never open again.
Which makes me cry.
