Jobs at CP---- weird

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby demon boy on February 3rd, 2007, 7:17 pm
I was just on the CP website, and you can work there at 14!??? Is that even legal? I guess you can work games, operations, and even grouping, and ticket sales! Does this seem at all weird?

No not wierd at all. How it works is at 14 you can really only work food and whatnot. From age 14 to 17 you can pretty much do anything at the park other than run the rides.

Last year, my first year working there (raptor and wicked twister) I waited till the day I turned 18 so i could have a red tag rather than a green tag which goes to minors... you will never see a green tag running a ride. Also a green tag only gets a few hours unless they are a high school grad. An absolute max of 40 hours for them. Red tags... hell you are lucky to work less than 60.

Oh yeah, this year... im on MAVERICK CREW!!!

Yeah. Those "intmains" are garbage.

They only have 4 of the top ten steel coasters, 2 of which take up the first two spots.

Garbage!

That doesn't mean they aren't garbage.

They:
-Crash
-LIMS explode
-Have Major Downtime
-Need extra supports

Should I continue?

I think the min age to work varies by state, in IL it's 15 with a work permit and with limitations, so if the law in OH says you can work at 14, then it's not all that wierd.

It varies alot by state. Ohio has alot of good parks so I could certainly see the state letting 14 year olds do less dangerous work.

I'd like to know what your talking about? Intamin Harnesses utilize a redundant hydraulic cylinder system for their restraints. There is a very small chance of both failing at the same time.

And if your referring to the 12 year old mentally disabled child accident. He climbed out of the restraint.

Have you ever even operated one? I worked on Wicked Twister for 3/4ths the 2006 season. It was the most fun I had ever had operating a ride. If anything the small amount of downtime that there was, was not because of a ride malfuntion... rather an employee "accident" When you work on a ride 13 hours a day any downtime is the most wonderful thing in your life...

So not only are they simple to run... they are fun and in no way suck to operate.

If anything the B&Ms sucked to run a helluvah alot more. Raptor and mantis controlls... harnesses... Lift motors... dont get me started.

Dont get me wrong, I love riding those two coasters.. but never again will i operate a B&M.

If you had any respect for your park, you might want to keep comments like that yourself.
Also I highly doubt the only downtime WT would ever have is that. Actually, I entirely doubt it. Theres no way thats true.

Only Intamin coaster i operated was Eagle. Atleast at Gam, Wolf and Bull's controls are just Harnesses/seats, airgates, dispatch. GAm Ride ops arent trusted enough to do more than that.

I think by "accidental" he means accidental E-stops and crossing the light curtains. But then again, maybe some employees get bored and like to try sticking their fingers in the combs :D

What does this have to do with disrespecting Cedar Point? Also, sorry you're not smart enough to figure out that I may have used a little bit of exageration.

-A re-wording of my post above, so the veins can go down in your scalp-

Wicked Twister is a reliable ride. Just like any other coaster, it has its downtime. 75 percent, possibly more of that was probably caused by a bored employee breaking a light curtain, or holding certain buttons too long.
Sure, that makes the employees sound... stupid..But if you were standing there for 13 hours a day for 6 days a week, you would probably find something to entertain yourself too. I know.. that doesnt make it right. chill in advance.

Anyways, working an Intamin does not suck in anyway that I know of.

hahahaha you know how many times we thought that would be a GOOD idea... we would be able to sit out at entrance all day. :) You cant really run a ride without fingers! :)
