Here's the complete truth: I am guilty. Guilty of being INNOCENT.
But the dumbass manager/employee of Walgreens in Midlothian and the cops are claiming otherwise, when they have no real proof whatsoever.
They're claiming that I stole from Walgreens... when they ended up stealing from ME tonight! I have a court date, and have some stupid counseling session to go to that we have to pay for. And I'm innocent!
I'll post all the details later. Tonight was just really depressing and scary. One of the cops even snooped through my phone, and the main one that was talking to me was an asshole.
Get this though, what they originally found was a little package that was open and the product was not in it. I didn't even TOUCH it. And they didn't find that product on me at all but they are still charging me for "stealing it" and also "stealing" 8 lipsticks/glosses from that store! I didn't even BUY any of those from Walgreens!!! I bought them from other stores!
But like I said, all the details will be posted later. It's a really long and complicated story. My life will never be the same after tonight.
By the way this story is most likely going to be in the newspaper after Tuesday! My parents are pissed as hell and believe me 100%!

That's bullshit. The cop has no right to search through your phone. Just don't worry about it and fight it. If you say they have no proof then they have no case.
But post the details when you can because I'm wondering why they would do that. Maybe some prick manager trying make an example out of shoplifters and got too full of himself.
This doesn't surprise me, Walgreens profiles teenagers like crazy for stealing. If your in there by yourself be damn sure that there is one employee watching you the whole time.

December 23rd, 2006
My boyfriend picked me up from my house sometime after 4 or 5 yesterday, and we went out to a few places. Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Popeye's, and then it was off to Walgreens in Midlothian. Everything is good, everything is normal, life is good. We're looking around, and I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to buy. One of the employees, which might've been the manager (I wasn't really paying attention), was making me nervous because two or three times he asked me if I needed help finding anything, and I kept saying no, and he looked as if he thought I was up to something. As I'm almost done deciding on what I wanted, he comes up to me again and says, "We need to talk." I said, "Oh I'm sorry, I'm just having a hard time deciding what I want." He repeated himself and I followed him, wondering what the hell he wanted.
"Do you have anything in your pockets?" he asked. I said, "Um, yeah... my cell phone and my money." He showed me a little package for a make yup product that was open and missing the product. He says he found it in a place where I was standing and looking at things. He asked me if I wanted him to call the cops, and I told him no I didn't do anything. He asked again, and I said "If you have to, go ahead, but I didn't shoplift!" So he goes and calls the cops. I decided on what to buy, and my heart was racing, even though I thought I had nothing to worry about since I didn't do a damn thing. I go up to the register, and that's when the cops arrived, but they let me continue and buy my things. So then they walk me over closer to the door, and started questioning me and all that. They searched me and then they searched my purse, and gave the employee 8 of my lipsticks to check and see if the so-called barcodes "matched." The employee a few minutes later "claimed" that they belonged to them. They also searched Jason, but found nothing. This ass of a cop said to me "You can keep denying all you want, but when we walked up to you, you were pretty nervous, and that says something." WTF? That doesn't automatically mean I'm guilty. Of course anyone's gonna be nervous being questioned by the cops, innocent or not!
Here comes probably the worst and scariest moment of my life. Without any reasonable evidence, they began to handcuff me, and that's when I lost it and just bawled my eyes out. They said "See ya later Jason!" He looked really worried. Hell, the damn cops didn't even find the original missing product on me! They walk me outside, and there were 4 different squad cars out there! Honestly, 4 squad cars over this bullshit? They obviously had nothing to do but slobber all over their damn doughnuts. Then... I was put in the back seat. I could not believe this was happening. Thoughts of my parents and their reactions were all over in my mind. I didn't know what to think.
So we get to the station, and the asshole cop takes the handcuffs off me and tells me to take off my jacket and empty out my pockets and sit down. As I was sitting down, I was thinking, this cannot be happening, I have to be dreaming! This has to be a dream! But it wasn't... One of the cops searched through my phone without my permission, and found something personal on there which really pissed me off and embarrassed me. I was pleading for innocence, I was telling them where exactly I bought those lipsticks, and unfortunately I didn't have any receipts. The goddamn asshole cop asked me "Do you have the receipts?" and I said no, and he says "You know when you buy something, before you leave, the cashier gives you this thing called a RECEIPT? Do you have that?" and I said no again. WTF, do they think I'm really stupid or something? I also asked how many things were "stolen" by me. He said 6 items including the original missing product. Wait a minute, that doesn't add up to the 8 lipsticks that were taken away from me! Can this be any more fishy?
So then they call my parents and tell them to come. I couldn't imagine what they were thinking. I kinda knew that they wouldn't believe that I did something like that, but the other half of me felt that they were pissed as hell and thinking that it was true. That same ass of a cop was telling me that he was going to go back to Walgreens to view the tape once I was released, and that he'd call with results, and that neither I or my parents would be allowed to see it. Come on now man, you can't do that. So my parents come, and so we and the cop with the huge stick up his rear all go in a room.
Notice how I keep referring to the same guy as the asshole cop and whatnot? Yeah I disliked him very much. Anyway, he was saying to my parents that I had a court date for January 10th and some counseling session that costs $50. And he wouldn't listen to my parents whatsoever, he said stuff like "Yeah yeah, the parents always defend the kids." and he mentioned how I was nervous when they entered the store and how that means I'm automatically guilty. And then he goes off and says that said that I stole a few lipsticks from CVS downtown. I'm like wait a minute, what did you just say? "You said earlier that you took some lipsticks from CVS." I said "What the hell? No, I said that I BOUGHT them from CVS." Then he tells my parents how he was gonna go to the store to view the tape, and call later, and how we're not gonna be able to see the tape. He also said that I'm never allowed to go to that Walgreens again, and if I do I'll be arrested. Yeah my parents are pissed as hell at them and never want to go to that Walgreens again. I smell a lawsuit.
So yeah all of this crap is insane, and it's complete bull. I cried so much last night, it was so emotional, scary, enraging, and stupid. I really hope that these cops get sued, because they were completely wrong. Wrongful arrest, searching me without a warrant or reasonable evidence, and just being complete jerkoffs. Oh and for searching through my phone! What pisses me off even more is they only called out me, and searched no one else besides my boyfriend. Honestly, these are the people who are supposed to be protecting us people? I'm disappointed.
This crap keeps on haunting me, and it's all I think about now. It's not as bad as it was last night or this morning though.
It did not feel like Christmas at all last night up until some point today.
Make sure you get a Lawyer.
Also, do not be surprised if Walgreens drops the charges before your court date. What happeds is all the info gets sent to Walgreens, Corp office for review. If the Corp office does not think that you did it they will drop the charges. They might even call and apologies, because they do not want to be sued. Sometimes I heard they even offer money so that you do not sue. Also, if the manger called the police with really no evidence, do not expect him to be the manger anymore. They will most likely Fire the Manager. Also, just so you know Walgreens has a right not to show you the Video as it is there’s. But if they want to convicted you in a court of law they will have to show the Jury, Judge, Lawyers and everyone else the video or its your word against there’s.
Also, I will say it again make sure you get a Lawyer.
Just keep asking for prove. Say you're innocent until proven guilty unlike the law system today where you're guilty until proven innocent. That'll get 'em.
But yeah that sucks a ton. I've never had any trouble with the law but at school I've gotten in trouble for several things I never did. You definitely have the right to be PO'ed.
Unofrtunately we do not have the money for a lawyer. We know an attorney down in Florida very well and we're going to talk to him about it, not that he can do much.
THEY SOME DIRTY LIL TIPDRILLS! THEY NEED TO GO F**K THEIR MOMS OR SOMETHING! (Sorry for caps but when it comes to DejaVuGirl, thats when they crossed the line. LOL)
From being one of the class geeks in 8th grade to one of the most noticable ones in High School. Thats what you call "Steppin Yo Game Up!"
Wow, Dejavugurl all I can say is that these people are F*%king ass holes. I know how much these things can hurt people and it will stick with you for quite a while. I'm guessing this Cop was around 20 years old, hes just using his power for the wrong reason and is well being little more than a bully. The only time the Judge would be able to see the tapes was in the court room and if there not shown there the Judge is just going to roll his or her eyes and say "case dissmissed" and that will basically be like a punch in the stomach for the Cop and the manager, and the will learn from it and most likely never do it again. And when the case is dissmissed you will probably be able to go back to the store and when you go back to the store go there with nothing, no purse no wallet and quickly walk in, select the product, and pay for it. And do this every so often and it will constantly keep eating away at the manager and he will feel guiltier and guiltier and once the rumors around the store spread the manager will get a bad reputation and within a year or so he wont be working there anymore. And file a wrongful action lawsuit against the cop if you can. But keep me posted, and I'm so sorry that this had to happen to you Dejavugurl.
Michael
P.s. Just go to a Gas Station, the prices are a lot cheaper and the people there really dont give a S**t that teenagers are there since most of the people working there are teenagers.
How old are you now? 17 years of age is the official adult age in Illinois for committing a crime.
If you are 16 or under , you will be tried as a juvenile.
If you can't afford an attorney, make sure you get a public defender. While they aren't the greatest for counsel, at least they will do the bare minimum to protect your legal rights.
Like I said before, don't go into court unprepared.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Ok, first of all, realy sorry, that blows. Walgreens has F***ing problems.
Second, when's your court date? I'd like to know so i can wish you luck. ANd if its near by, maybe drop in.
Ok to clear things up, the cop confused me. He said that I had a court date and the counseling, but really it is just the counseling thing at the court on January 10th for 3 hours, no court date. I'd be interviewed and whatnot. And I'm 16. I've got plenty of people offering to defend me! Everyone I know is absolutely outraged.
I may have been wearing the wrong shirt that day when they arrested me... "It's all fun and games until your parents find out." It's just a shirt though, it shouldn't make them automatically think that I'm a bad person/guilty/etc. But these cops unfortunately had something up their rear ends.
Heh, the other day I found one of my receipts for two of the lipsticks. It probably doesn't matter now but I'm going to keep it just in case.
Well, if you can find that, you need to find everything you got that day AND the receipt. Once they see that, it should help. Again, this is (sorry mods but i think this topic disregards some rules) * up. They dont have proof so you shouldnt be in this situation.

I'm so glad that high murder rates and serial pedophiles dont stop policemen from charging 16 year olds for shoplifting with next to no evidence. Good job officer numbnuts drug dealers can always wait when they are misdemeanors going on.
