My Guess is that it went up for sales because they are planning to put something in its spot for spring 2008. In the conference call he did say they are already planning for 2008. I highly doubt anyone wants to buy SFMM, so they most likely decide to start making it Family Friendly. My Guess is Wiggles or Thomas.

Ride has been nothing but problems for SFMM, the thing rarely breaks 70mph, the ride had become rather pointless, though I doubt anyone in their right mind would buy it, and that's ignoring the fact that it's a terrian coaster and most parks couldnt build a 320-350 or so foot tower (the height it would be on flat land unless they raised the whole launch track by about 70-100 feet rather than loping off the bottom of the tower)
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder
Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping
Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073

^True, the problem with building a ride like this that achieves more of a gimmic (first to reach 100 mph and tallest) and less of a full ride experience, is that they hold the risk of becoming extinct. I feel the same about Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka....the second someone develops a full ride off the same first tower, these one trick ponies won't serve the purpose they used to. Nevertheless, that ride is an icon, it will definitely be missed!

I liked S:TE and I dont want to see it go. It doesnt make sense that they would sell it for $125,000. Heres the listing http://www.amusementtrader.com/index/li ... ge1478.htm

I found this ride boring when I rode it several years ago, im guessing it was much better when it first opened.
Are we sure this isnt for the other freefall ride the park has?? I found that ride to be better than SUE though it was a little painful at times.

No, the other one is listed for sale on another ride trade listing for $100,000. The other listing also has correct pictures of the ride (FreeFall).

This doesn't suprise me but I'd expect it to go the way of Shockwave, scrap steel prices are quite high and they would most likely get >>$100,000 for what I'd assume is fairly high grade structural steel.

Too bad I wasn't able to ride it BOTH times I went to Magic Mountain. I heard it's pointless nowadays but I still would've liked to get on it.

It is a pointless ride and it makes perfect sense to remove it.

If they plan to keep MM, now is the time to rid the waste in that park and put in some decent rides.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

SFMM's PR people have come out and said they are not selling S:TE only FreeFall and that it was a wrong listing.

^I was gonna say, $125,000 is pretty darn cheap for a two coasters of that size. (Especially compared to the $100,000 freefalls.

But my guess would be that Six Flags Magic Mountain has gotten theyre money back for it by now.

It was extremely popular then, and I'm sure it pulled in plenty of people.
Not to mention that it's still on most shows about Coasters.

So, It's probally no loss to Six Flags by now.

Though, it's always sad to see any ride go.
